Hey guys just thought I'd ask you all if you could help my bandmate and best friend Thomas Gillespie. He is appearing on the TG4 show Glor Tire this Wednesday 25th March. The show is setup for 9 singers around Ireland who have been mentored by Past and Present Irish Country stars. Thomas, has been mentored by "The wee man from Strabane" Hugo Duncan. This week is the first time we will see people getting the boot. Out of the 9 contestants there will be 2 that will go leaving 7 for next week. He will be performing with the Quays house band down in Galway and the song that he has chosen is "Make me an Island" by the "late great" Joe Dolan. I would appreciate it if any of you would take the time to vote for him as he is a good guy and a fantastic singer. I think If you all can recall I posted a song that he did in memory of his little brother who died of Leukemia 6 years ago,on the old forum's member stage entitled Honey by Bobby Goldsboro Below is one of his performances earlier in the competition with Hugo and his band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHVXJ7QKY-8And also if you want to check out the other contestants from the show and their mentors see below www.tg4.ie/clar/gtire/gti2.aspThank you all for your support. Here is the details for voting as the lines have been open the past 9 weeks Vote: Text - THOMAS to 53500 (ROI) / 83222 (NI)

Hi Kemo. Good luck to your friend in the show. I just had a listen to him sing on your youtube link, the first one, and he is indeed a fine singer. I wish him well and will (hopefully) be watching when the show is aired Wednesday.

I appreciate the votes guys and will pass on your well wishes. He is slightly concerned that the band does not have a brass section which will be a huge let down for such a great song.
He is on second on the night

Can't help with the voting from this side of the pond, but send well wishes just the same.

I'm not going with work commitments Pat He usually does it in C or C#. I think Joe did it in D if i'm not mistaken. "Let me ins", If you are about the Quays tomorrow they'd welcome another fan no doubt with open arms. There's a bus going from Tyrone ;D

I'd love to go, mate, but I too sadly have certain commitments, even so I do expect to at least be able to watch on the telly. Alan, don't worry about not being able to vote as I'll make sure one goes in on your behalf

Ya Kieran Ill be tuned in and voting as well.......... surprised to hear that the keyboard player (if there is one) dont supply the brass backing .........reminds me of a time I entered a Song Contest a few years back and made the final with an Original song which also had a brass section included ......the band there on the night also had no brass available but improvised with guitars and it went off quite well eventhough I misssed it ...didnt win though but it was great fun ;D he'll be fine on the night wish him the best of luck from all here .............regards...Barry

Hi ya Barry mate. Thanks for the well wishes. The reason he is a bit concerned is that there was another guy who did good looking woman last week as one of his songs and the brass from the keyboard player never came through aswell as it should. I think with Joe Dolan songs it is imperative that a brass section comes through, as it lifts the overall sound. Well done on the competition mate, I must get a listen to the original song you used..
