Hi Pat and JohnG Dont guess any more......... here are some "revealing "pics of the Wooden Folding stool. I must say its very convenient and is pretty strong. I'm sure you can make it yourself or get it made easily. It costed me Rs.1000/- which is about 14 pounds. Check the speaker stand converted to a mixer stand ... pretty neat, huh ? Hope all these pics go thro. Cheers

Thanks Shyam,
Actually it's a lot more intricate than I thought, or the card table I've got. It allows you to vary the size of the top, I see. Cool!
I expect it would cost a lot more than the 1000 rupees you spent to buy it, to send it. And, as Pat said, a carpenter would charge a small fortune to hand make one over this side of the ocean.
I like the modified speaker stand. How does the top connect to the pole? May I ask for a piccy of the underside please?
Thanks for those piccies, Shyam, All the best, JohnG. P.S. any joy with the link I sent you?

JohnG, the size of the top of the wooden table is not changeable. As you'll see from one of the pics, the two halves just slide in to form the top. Its really convenient as you can carry it anywhere. Here''s he pic of the converted speaker stand .

Thank you Shyam!
Just what I thought!
Is the metal bracket that fits over (or into) the pole end custom made too? It looks like it! Or is it stolen right off a standard speaker cabinet? Or, heaven forbid, you bought it in a shop?
Best, JohnG.
No, I see it now, it fits over the pole.

I use a converted ironing board for amp/mixer and bits and bobs. I cut off the shaped end and sprayed it black. Folds flat and weighs next to nothing. Glad you finally found what you were looking for in a stool Shyam, I remember sending you some picks of mine (Premier drum stool) ages ago but your wooden one looks a lot more compact.
All the best,
Roger

I use a keyboards stand with a wooden board with holes drilled in the bottom for the leads. The back is piano hinged.[Sprayed black] On the front of house side a banner is velcroed on, it hangs down to the floor and hides the leads. I have drawer rungs on the bottom underneath and I slide the sound module in.

Which end is chopped off though, the pointy end or the bit that holds the iron? JG

Hi Shyam,
Nice stool! I have exactly the same and also use it for putting music equipment on. Bought it on a fair for handycraft here in Sweden and it was not expensive. Imagine...they´ve exported it all the way to India..amazing! Cheers Lena

Hi Frank, I'd love to get an idea of how that drawer thingy works. How is it attached etc. Is it a simple X keyboard stand, or the one with two legs on each side? Regards, JohnG.

Heavy duty curtain track fitted underneath top. Drawer has no front or back and has the curtain guides fitted on top edges. Sound module sits in drawer and cables hang down at back. Quicklock X frame.[double braced would be even better] Top of desk is 6inches wider than spread of Xframe. Top is made from marine ply about 3/4 inch thick.6 holes drilled in for power leads etc to drop down to muli-box. Undercoat, 3 applications of satin blak top coat and satin polyurephane. Front is same width and about 8 inch high. Locking piano hinge. Had used threaded rod screwed into top and fitted with butterfly nuts but was too time consuming putting up and taking down. Velcroe around top edge and velcroe fitted on drop sheet with logo on it.Drops down to floor level hides the cables and jugs of beer. Hope I have explained it okay. Gear in storage at the moment I will try and find some band photos with the set up.

Frank I can follow most of your description - just not the curtain rail part If you can't find a photo, how good are you at sketching (lol). But seriously, if I understand correctly, the curtain runners run in parallel (running from front to back) on the underside of your marine ply base running perpendicular lengthwise, and the 'drawer' simply slides into it? Am I on the right track (no pun intended)? I'm keen to follow up on this one, sounds just like what I'm after, beats a rickety camping/card table and would be a hell of a lot more stable and flexible regarding height settings (could be changed for a standing/sitting gig I assume). ps - how's the Gold Coast - still enjoying life down there??? Been affected much by the A1 kerfuffle??? regards Warren
