Hi Pat,
Wouldn´t it be nice if everybody stated what country they´re from. We had it before in the "old days" but now it seems to have been lost in the process.
I know that you have loads to sort out and I don´t want to burden you too much, but it is interesting to see where our forum members come from.
What do you think? Lena

Count me in Lena, originally from the UK,1939-1968 been living in W Australia since 1968 (best place on earth) ;D now retired to nice spot one hour south of Perth with my good wife of 48 years & enjoying having time to get into music ( a bit of a late starter but i'm getting there) & a spot of fishing, love hearing about all of the interesting experiences of all the forum members & am blown away with help i have recieved in my quest for knowledge since joining regarding all this midi stuff which is really helping me since i started going around doing little concerts for seniors groups also nursing homes & the like,i am only a strummer on the guitar & my vocals are pretty average but we all seem to have a good time, the biggest worry for me is that sometimes i'm the oldest crusty there ;D,anyway best wishes to you all & it is looking like this forum is going to be the best ever, Ole Simmo from down-under

Hi guys, I´m from Sweden - the land of the midnight sun. What I really meant with my post was: How about putting every members country in the "box" to the left where you have the name, avatar, number of posts etc etc. The administrators have it. How this could be done I leave to our exceptionally clever admins Cheers Lena

Hi Lena,
Born in the UK, moved to East Africa at the age of 4 (went with my parents, not alone) returned to the UK when I was 16 (Ugandan independence). I arrived back after a pre Christmas holiday in Mombasa where the temperature was 100 F in the shade, to the winter of '62/'63. Brrrr! Lived in the UK with much travelling abroad on business in the later years, for 40 years.
Moved to Germany in August 2003, to a little village called Altendorf (or Old Village) on the outskirts of Meckenheim not far from Bonn, where I now live.
When I win the lottery I shall go and join Terry (Simmo) in Western Australia and edit his MIDI files for him.
If he'll let me!
And it's already there Lena. Look in the box on the left.
You need to go into "profile" then click on "modify profile" remember to re-enter your password on the next page and enter your whereabouts in "location". JohnG.

Lena, member's already have the option to include their whereabouts on the left of the forum should they so choose, but there is no way to include your country's flag other than placing it as an avatar, which is entirely at the discretion of each member.

Oh, he'll let you in, alright........especially as you'll have won the lottery ;d John, if you don't mind me saying you have a very interesting and varying background - worthy of a book, me thinks

It wasn't the letting in, it was the editing of the MIDI files! Interesting and varying it has been. Whether anyone wants to hear the memories of yet another "old f@rt" is another matter. You might however like to take a look at some of the images from my past, if so you will find some of my photos (as well as many of my colonial colleagues) from a bygone era here: www.mccrow.org.uk/EastAfrica/Uganda/Uganda.htmThere at the foot of the page on Entebbe, you will see my old home. Number 17 Bugonga Road. A paradise on Earth! Whatever happened to Wasiki and Jethali and Tedora I wonder? Did they survive Idi Amin? Sadly, I shall never know. One small part of my heart is still there. How does the song go? "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!" And that's my father's car outside the pumping station. And on the ferry at Terinyi. "Misty, water colour memories of the way we were!" You'll find more of mine dotted all over the Uganda section. I hope you enjoy them. JohnG.

I was born in the United States. My mother is Norwegian, so I also spent many summers in Norway when I was growing up. I've lived all over the United States (since my dad was in the army and we moved every 3-4 years), as well as a number of years in (what was then West) Germany (both as a kid and as an adult, when I myself was in the army). I currently live in Manassas, VA (about 30 miles southwest of Washington, DC.
