Hi, I have recently purchased Sonar Artist and I am finding it very difficult to use. All I want to do is this:
1. upload a midi file 2. make changes to the file 3. convert to a wav file 4. upload to my ipad 5. play as a backing track at my gigs.
I would also like to: 1. upload an wav file 2. convert to a midi file 3. make changes 4. convert back to wav 5. upload to ipad 6. play as a backing track at my gigs.
I am finding Sonar so complicated and not user friendly.
Does anyone recommend another program that is simpler and easier to use for a beginner
Thanks
Julz

Hi Julz Welcome to MH .....I posted a thread a while back about midi to wav/mp3 conversion follow the link here... midihangout.proboards.com/thread/5616?page=1have a look through it and see how you get on... Just a few things for starters Sonar Artist I'm not familiar with but basically as far as I'm aware all Cakewalk/Sonar progs from Pro Audio 9 upwards follow the same procedure in converting midis so I wouldn't go binning the prog yet . You can convert to a few diff formats but the most popular two would be mp3 and wav with mp3 being a fraction of the size of wave . You will need basic editing skills to make changes to the midis but any help you might need myself and lot of the guys on here I'm sure can help you out. Another thing wav files can't be converted to midi impossible to successfully achieve that so far anyway so no matter who advertises a prog that claims it can be done avoid them just my tuppenceworth. Uploading to ipad is realtively easy I use ITunes which you will need to download but that's for another day . Let us know how your getting on ok Regards Barry
