Hi Guys
Has anyone has this problem before. I have a lot of my music programmes set up on my ipod, just a few days ago when I plug it it I get a message that says.... Are you sure you want to sync music? All existing content on the ipod will be removed and replaced with songs and playlists from your itunes library, the playlists etc are not in the itunes library only on the ipod so I don't want to delete them, any ideas guys
help Jacqui

No Barry I've not synced to another pc, one day I went on it was ok, then the next I got that message, to be honest I'm starting to think it's something to do with Spotify as it opens everytime I start my pc latley, but even if I close that I still get that message, I'm wondering if there is a way I get import my songs and plylists into itune then send them back again somehow.

Jacqui I have Spotify set to start up when I boot up ... to switch/change that setting go into Edit/Preferences/ near the bottom you'll see your options . It'd also be a good idea to have all your ipod contents stored on your PC as back up anyway. I know there are some 3rd party software prog out there to easily transfer back to PC. but they're not free unfor. See if this link helps if not the Apple Support will surely sort you out without having to purchase . www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-move-music-from-your-ipod-to-your-pc-in-5-easy-steps/ Cheerz Barry

Thanx for that Gerry good to see you back hope your doin well. iTunes has been causing me grief as well for a while just downloaded that Prog and so far it looks quiet easy to navigate and free as well nice one. Have you used an iPad for gigging as well and what player wereyou using ? I use Live Trax Pro which is ok but would prefer something with a better interface instead of just a black screen . Gonna try this App which will be downloadable free of charge from the 8th/9th April. www.iosnoops.com/appinfo/stage-traxx-for-ipad/504184444 Barry

Hi Guys I am going to investigate that free programme, Gerry did you find it ok with the pc, no ads or bugs? shame I can't use those other programmes but they seem to be only for iplayers, I had hoped the Tablet Tommy got might have been for me but he seems to be having player problems with it, so I'm still looking for a good one, in the mean time I need to sort my ipod, what's strange is all the library etc seem to be in the itunes folder in music, but I don't see a way to import them back, if I plug in the player it's all there too, I read a lot of stuff on the net and manually set it in preferences not to sync, but that message still comes up, I do have all the music on the pc, it's just that I had them all in about 40 different playlists to match all my gigging programmes on my DJ player. I don't think it was Spotify now as I've left that closed and set all the preferences in that now and it's still the same in itunes. But according to the net loads of people have the same problem with itunes, it's just a pain.

Jacqui when you say your dj player thats your ipod right ? So your saying all your music is in iTunes but your playlists are only on your ipod so your trying to copy your playlists back into itunes/pc is that right ... trying to get my head round this ;D I set up all my playlists in iTunes then sync over to iPad or maybe you just made your playlists up on the ipod itself? Hi Barry Sorry for the confusion Ok the DJ player is the Citronic SDJ1 so my music programmes are on that in playlists which I use for my gigs all on SD cards. When I used to have/use Mini Discs I had 30 Discs of various programmes ie- 50's 60's Pop 1,2,3,4 Irish 123, Oldies, Slow, Irish Quicksteps, Singalong......... that kind of thing I recorded them all onto my PC, and put them on SD cards for the SDJ1 Player, I kept the songs in the same order as on the minidiscs as I had them all in my gig book for reference, plus I knew where to find them all! So with itunes I imported all those 30 discs/playlists as a duplicate of my mini discs/and sd cards into it plus a lot of other programmes, like songs to learn, Ameritz, Spotify, Originals +++ I had them all in playlists in the itunes library and exported them to my ipod so the playlists were the same, I keep it as a back up on gigs, and also to listen to when trying to learn new songs around the house, and when I go to bed! But now all those playlists are gone in itunes library, but still exist on my ipod, which itunes wants to delete, I could redo the whole thing again, but it would mean finding everything again on my pc as it was in those playlists. What I don't understand is why they just disappeared from itunes in the first place, if I can just import what is on my ipod back into itunes as it is, it would be a lot less work, as it was about 2000 odd songs. UPDATE Tonight when I've turned pc back on and gone into itunes all the default playlists have been duplicated by four so it says for example ..... 90's music 90's music 90's music 90's music Classical Music Classical Music Classical Music Classical Music Top rated Top Rated Top Rated Top Rated so on and so on, so it's acting very odd in itunes, but nothing in any of them no music, so I think the programme has gone nuts, not sure what to do now

Hi Jacqui Can't understand how they have vanished from iTunes have you tried the iTunes Library mine are in C:Barry/Music/iTunes. Either you may have deleted them by mistake a Virus or maybe a dodgy lead if it not communicating with your iPod... Ok just missed the last part of your Update.......it seems to be an issue with iTunes thats why lots of people are unhappy with that prog. Was gonna suggest to copy over the SD cards to your PC again which wouldn't take long . But the first thing I would do is download that Copy Trans Manager Gerry mentioned won't do any harm just make sure your out of iTunes first otherwise it won't open.... www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.phpI did and it picked up my iPad contents straight away so should be the same for your iPod. Itunes is too unstable and unreliable I think but I'll still leave it on my PC for backup anyway, Btw is your iTunes the latest ver 11 ya just in case it needed updating ? See how you get on anyway Rgds Barry

Gerry did you find it ok with the pc, no ads or bugs? ( I've had no trouble at all with it Jacqui, i am just sorry i didn't know about it sooner because i lost hundreds of tracks on itunes for no apparent reason, it is so much easier to add or remove and synchronize with copytrans IMO..

Hi Guys Well I downloaded the Copy Trans and it does see my ipod ok, but it won't import what I have already on it, it will only add to it, I imported a new song from pc, but I can't see how you add that to a playlist already on your ipod, I dragged it in and it worked but I wonder if there is a way to do it as with itunes right click and scroll to the playlist you want, I thought it would show up in the recently added playlist but it never for some reason, I think it will be a good alternative to itunes, as that's so temperamental. Barry you asked what version I had, seems to be 10 although I thought it used to ask me to update, I can't find it in the settings, I wonder if I should uninstall it and reinstall itunes? Jacqui
