I've been trying to connect my ipod to my pa to use in the break and also keep as a back up, but can't seem to find the right lead to connect it so it comes through both speakers, I have a 2 RCA Phono - 3.5mm Stereo Minijack Cable and I put two jack adaptor plugs on it into two channels on the amp but only get it play from one channel, I tried it with a single 3.5mm Stereo Minijack Cable both ends into one channel and that would not play, so I'm not sure what lead I should be using? Here is my amp www.thomann.de/gb/media_bdbviewer_AR_169773.html?image=0&sid=a3b6a9a5aac9c7fb25e953865c71d70a&small=1

Are you using the stereo inputs (7/8 or 9/10)?

If 1 channel is ok swap them over and see what happens, looking to find if one jack, lead or adaptor is faulty. Lets know what happens.

Jacqui, I'm not expert on this stuff but I wonder why you need two jack adaptor plugs?. I assume you put the 3.5mm stereo jack end of the cable into the ipod...why not put the 2 RCA Phono plugs into the red and white sockets on the Dynacord which are visible on your picture and which appear to be intended for such plugs? Is this the same point as Ziggy's above?

The RCA inputs don't seem to have any controls (equalisation etc). But there are 2 channels marked 7/8 & 9/10, which are stereo inputs with full controls. You would need the adaptors, as they are 6.5mm jacks.

yes record send and return jacks I have tried but they don't have any eq.
I'm sure I tried the stereo 7/8 9/10 and I still got music out of one speaker, I know the leads are ok I've tried them on other things, the reason I went into two channels was because I thought that might work when the stereo channels didn't. I'm going to try those again later today at my gig, just to be sure. I started to wonder if you have to have stereo jacks on both ends, the one coming out of the ipod and the one or two going into the mixer, the 1/4 Jacks(6.5mm jacks.) are mono could that be a point?

Jacqui,
I think you may have put your finger on the issue all right. If the jack at the ipod end is stereo (TRS or two rings) I imagine you would need the same stereo jacks at the mixer end.

No. You need a 3.5 stereo jack at one end to 2 x mono (6.5) at the amp end (one for left, one for right). This might sound obvious, (it's the obvious thing we sometimes miss), but when you plug them into 7/8 or 9/10, have you got the balance control set to the middle position, as in the picture. Otherwise, I can't see why it won't work. That's how I plug my minidisc decks into my Carlsbro desk.

Check your adaptor plugs if the lead is okay.Is the earphone socket okay on the ipod ?

Just a quick update to that, the connection with that adapter, I just mentioned, I've just tried it again and it only works when I pull the jack plug out slightly so it's not working on stereo and it's a bit quiet. I tried the two mono Jacks into two channels between 1 - 6 and that worked and also into one stereo channel L & R 7/8 or 9/10 panned left and right ok, although slightly quieter when you pan right and that worked, but I don't really want to use those channels as I plug my mini disc player in there, so is there a lead that comes from the ipod stereo out, to one mono in Jack on a mono channel? ie the 1 - 6 channels maybe that might work Jacqui
