Just another thought i had!! Was SAF showing a lack of respect for or contempt for both Everton FC and the sponsors of the FA cup. When i saw the team come out i thought to myself who are these guys, i think he has brought the competition down by not putting his best players out on the field and i think there should be some sort of an enquiry as to the reason`s why, i don`t think Sir Matt if he were alive would have agreed with his actions, i`ll leave this little thought with you and look forward to your comments.

Well I'm home now from wembley where SAF played an underpar team against an almost full strength Everton....and held them till the end....not bad for players who were playing in the milkcup last year!!!!!...my only gripe with the penalties was why did Tevez and Scholes not step up before Ferdy and Bervy...anyway it's over now and the REAL reason that Utd played the 'kids' was...that the chairman was told to make cuts backs at the club....and by not winning the ''for 'FA'Cup''...it means that the trophy cleaning lady's job is now safe... with not as many to clean!!!!!!..........just a thought...has Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal a trophy cleaning lady?

That team that he set out were capable and unlucky not to win the game outright. That said if United were getting beat 5-0 and SAF was on the touchline dancing a merry jig I'd then say that, "Yes" he is disrespecting the trophy and it's governing body. I think that we have a lot of games to go and why have these fringe/youth players in your squad if they are not going to be selected. Take for example Wellbeck, he has played in everyone of United's FA cup games this season, Gibson has played in all but 2 I think, and young "Kiko" Macheda after handing us 6 points in the 2 previous league matches he has earned the right to play as Berbatov has not had the greatest of starts in a red Jersey. Adding to that list is Ben Foster who was the MOTM in the carling cup final against spurs I don't think that we can say that it was a wrong and disrespectful selection from the boss. Could prove great management especially for the likes of Berbatov, Scholes, Nani, Giggs, Rooney, and Ronaldo, that these kids can do a job at the top level against a very inform top 5 side. Anyone want to do the weather I'm knackered. ;D

Final comment!!! How many of us morsel awaiting also rans if we got the chance to see Alex Ferguson come and manage our favourite club would, protest, Cancel our season ticket, (If we had one) burn our memorabelia, Stage a protest, commit suicide....Etc: Etc:... If we were honest I dont think even the most hard line ABU fans wouldn't do any of these...Might run off at the mouth a bit, (In Public) but secretly we would be punching the air with glee.......

Well...as a Gunners fan sweeney, i can't believe you are saying this...Arsene Wenger is as good a manager as Fergie, and i would sooner see the likes of him managing Leeds than SAF....no doubt. I'm sorry, but he showed no respect for the FA cup fielding the team he did and i'm delighted Everton won...as for Berbatovs penalty....hee hee hee. ;D Ferguson is not the Almighty. Stick him at Luton and see what he does with their budget. Tubbs.....in the corner delighted that little ole Leeds beat Tranmere on Saturday....play offs here we come!! Yikes!!!....where did weegeo go??

I`m here Tubbs on the wing but about to move midfield I would never class Arsenal,Liverpool or Chelsea as `also rans`nor would i call ant of the teams in the top 10 of the premier league `also rans`i think that was a very sweeping comment to make.
Perhaps the comment that Kemo makes is closer to the point he said`we have a lot of games to play` I think that SAF is perhaps focused on Europe once again to the detrement of his domestic games. It`s not that long ago don`t forget that he called the `Carling Cup` a mickey mouse cup and this season he was over the moon to win it !!!
Would i want him to manage my team?? good as he undoubtly is i would have to say NO i think that the managers we have had with 1or 2 exceptions are on a par if not better than SAF
Finally i would like to thank him for showing that `football`is not all about fair play!! was he fair to the fans that paid to see his `best team`turn out to play for the huge ticktet price they paid
weegeo-----------heading the ball over to Tubbs who shoots and scores to bring Leeds back up where they belong G O A LLLLLLLLLLLL

The reason Sir Alex has been successful over the years is because he has never been afraid to play these youngsters in top matches . It does wonders for these young guys' confidence ,that the manager puts faith in them, and lets not forget ,they were only a dodgy penalty decision away from beating a very good Everton side only to lose out on Penalties . The bonus for Sir Alex is he has fresh players for the Premier game in Midweek and the likes of Berbatov and company know that these talented youngsters are breathing down their necks. Keeping your squad fresh for the run in when you are playing twice a week could be the deciding factor in where the honours go this season

Sorry folks! The Rose Coloured Specs are in Vogue again..... Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Etc: Etc: Etc: have been playing catchup to Man U for the past decade+. So pray tell me, success wise what should we call them.. Losers, Non winners, Almost there's, Maybe next timers. What!!!? To say that SAF would not succeed at Luton is a myth. He has proved with Aberdeen that a leader is worth more than a 200 million player buying pot. Aberdeen had not the money that English clubs had yet take a look at his record with them. There is a saying that goes "Cometh the Hour Cometh the Man" All through history even in Biblical times when situations warranted action a man always stepped into the breach. Not a Commitee. Not backroom staff. Not fan clubs. A man. Ferguson is one of these such leaders. Take off those RCG's and check his record. Alex Ferguson's success is down to two very important attributes. First!! His man management skills and ability to get from players what he needs. Second!! and more important he is, like all great leaders,, Ruthless. He has a line in the sand and you don't even have to cross it, you just have to be near it to incur his wrath. He will never, "No matter what the cost," show weakness.. He dosent care, who or what you are, if you dont do "exactly" as he says or requests you will regret it. David Beckham found that out when he decided to take Posh shopping. Ferguson humiliated him. He made him go and watch the next match from the stand along with every one else and all the world media giving him attention. If David O'Leary had had the b**** to sack Woodgate and Bowyer the next day after the 2am assault he would be still managing at top level. He was weak and when you are weak at any level it shows. Brian Kerr's first job when taking over the Republic was to go to Manchester to convince Roy Keane (Who let the Irish Side down a few months before) to come back and play for them. What message did that send to the rest of the Irish Squad?? Keane would never have put on another Irish jersey under Jack Charlton. Look at the money the last few Liverpool managers spent. How many Trophies did they win compared to United?? Wenger is a business man. Making money for the club seems to be his first priority. Pat Rice is the football brain there and Wenger will never spend to build a big squad. Look at the money Chelsea have yet under Scholari they couldn't string three wins together. But then again Abromavich had the brains to see this and sacked him there and then. Not two years later when he had done irrepairable damage. "Leaders" There is only one of that caliber in the premier and you can whinge and ghurn all you like . Ferguson is going for four trophies in a row. He has already won The Best Team on the Planet Trophy and tha'ts after a decade+ Come on folks........Take off the RCGs and give credit where credit's due.. I started being a Gunners fan in the early 70s when they had a lot if Irish in their squad including the great Pat Jennings whom I sat beside in school. Sadly no Irish anymore..........As long as Ferguson is in charge at United there will be little chance of the afore mentioned sides gaining anything that resembles prolonged success........ ""On These Things Dwell""....... Gerry

Are you getting paid to promote Fergie sweeney?? For a moment i thought it was Alexander The Great you were talking about!! ;D He is a class Manager, no doubt...but the big wave came at the right time at old trafford and he rode it....right place, right time. Maybe the rose coloured glasses are firmly perched elsewhere?? Leeds have had some good Irish players too, however this is not a reason to support a club....if they fielded 11 outer mongolian internationals every week and we were playing sunday league soccer i would still support them. tubbs......making a note that if weegeo and me run for president and vice-president respectively we'll get sweeney to be our spin-doctor. ;D

You've made a lot of good points in you post sweeney that I admire you as a non United supporter to see what I have said for years. Regardless who you are at United you are not bigger than the club. SAF is the Godfather, a pivotal leader who has taken 5 different teams to success through his days as the Boss. He took a team of kids through to win the Premier league, something I strongly feel that will never be surpassed in my lifetime again. He has faith in his players and they have the upmost of respect for him. He has a line that you must not cross, this is something I feel every manager should have, If they cannot controll their players attitudes off field they have no chance achieving it on the field.
Kemo, Leaning over to whipe the lens' of Tubbs RCG. And shake his hand for selling us Eric "the King" Cantona and Rio "The Captain" Ferdinand. Two very good buys, one which was laughed at by a lot of supporters for the price paid at that time.

I doubt those Misty Midlands are clouding your vision Tubbs. You need to get out every now and then.. The Big Wave did not come to Old Trafford. It was a Tsumani and it was created by Alex Ferguson. There wasn't even a ripple before he arrived.............The RCGs are definatley not with this old guy. I wish he ""Ferguson that is"" would go away, Retire, take up Horse racing, anything but stay at Manchester, for my friend as long as he is still there us poor second bests will remain second best........Trust Me.............By the way....Inform old Sweeney as to how many class players excluding Giles and Robbie Keane have played for Leeds since the 50s.........Forever searching for enlightment........Gerry.

Can we start calling Sweeney and Tubbs Dunphy and Giles respectivly :-) This has to be thread of the year, I love a good debate and you guys have not disappointed at all. Just like tuning in to RTE2 on a Wednesday night. Great entertainment. Keep it going lads, the funny thing about it none of you support United. Great!!!
Since the 50's Leeds have had Gary Kelly, John Sheridan, Ian Harte and Stephen McPhail what I remember from the Emerald Isle. Gary Kelly was Ian Hartes uncle if I'm not mistaken.
Back to you Sweeney, also Tubbs waiting in the wings flicking Greame Souness' ear.

Tsk tsk I can feel a certain how should i put it hmmmmmmmmm i know SAF mania coming into what was a good topic lol i have 1 question though could i ask what four trophies he is going for i seem to remember he got dumped from the FA Cup or was that perhaps a dream i had lol. I think also to say that MU have been the best team for decades+ is just a little of the mark. Chelsea done well under Mourhino Liverpool have done weel too. Now then lets be fair SAF is undoubtly a great manager but thats as far as i would concede he is not by a long mile the Greatest manager and i think you should wipe your rcg`s and smell the coffee. Talking only in MU terms Sir Matt Busby rebuilt his team from disaster and went on to conquer Europe and you know what he did it with local [well british and irish] players that for me is worth millions more than what SAF has achieved with all his multimillionaire players.

Hi Weego! From what I can recall they already have the Carling Cup and are World Club Champions. That's two and the Premier League and The Champions League would make four. I wish Arsenal were in the same position..........Gerry.

Sweeney.....the fog has lifted in the misty midlands, the sun is shining, and there is not one single pair of rose coloured glasses to be seen....my learned friend, prepare to be enlightened....... Firstly, i said Leeds have had some "Good" Irish players down the years and not "Class" as duly stated by your goodself. (maybe the RCG are impairing the vision???) Apart from Giles we havn't had from Ireland what i would call "class" players since the fifties...Robbie Keane is a very good player and is still very highly thought of among Leeds fans....but saying he is "class" is stretching it...there have been solid players in the likes of Gary Kelly, John Sheridan, Ian Harte etc, we have had good players from the North too....Harry Duggan played for both the North and South. But as it is not important to me as a supporter as to whether any Irish players tog out for my team every week i won't bang on about it. Last year in Ireland all you could see were Sunderland jerseys...now Keano has gone its back to whoever is going to be premiership champs jerseys again. When Fergie goes.....will Man Utd not ever win anything again? Is Old Trafford gonna be doomed?? What will happen after the Adonis that is SAF?? The same giant of the game that moaned about a few tufts of grass hampering his pansies from getting to the FA cup final!! As George says, Sir Matt Busby rebuilt his team after disaster from mainly the British Isles, a team that has given Man Utd the status it has today....Fergie is leagues below this great man, no question. Tubbs......along with weegeo trying to get rid of Jackie Fullerton and become pundits for BBC Northern Ireland as RTE is fully staffed with class ex-Leeds players.
