Just heard a few days ago about the passing of Al Martino aged 81, who has the honour of having the very first Number 1 Chart Topper in the UK charts "Here In My Heart", way back in November 1952. He had a fantastic voice and will be greatly missed by those of us who were pop-pickers in these days. He also charted very successfully with " Spanish Eyes" in 1973.

Sad news indeed his voice was indeed magic and he turned `spanish eye`s`into an all time classic

Wasn't he related to Dean Martin?
I am sure I read that somewhere.
I have a recording some where of Here in my Heart.

That's very sad news, his music was always being played in our house, a beautiful singer.
