Hi folks ,yep the Ole fella's on the prowl for a bit of advice,i have uninstalled both Sonar le & Sonic Cell discs from my computer in preperation fo a bloke to reinstal them properly,as i keep stuffing it up,he is coming next monday 26th oct,my question is,i have just had a look on the computer & it still shows up in the programme files in a folder under cakewalk as still being on the computer but of course it will not open them as normal,do i have to delete this folder & contents or will it interfere with things when the programmes are installed if i leave them on the computer,it is because of my lack of knowledge in this area i am unsure what to do,any help welcome,Terry

Hi Terry,
If you have uninstalled the program itself, then all that should be left is empty folders. BUT if you have worked on any MIDI files, they may still be held in one of the subfolders for "working" files. I would suggest checking this out.
If there are files there you want to keep, may I suggest moving them into a subdirectory under "My Music". However they may already have been put into a subdirectory of "My Documents" or "My Music" in which case leave 'em there.
Once you've checked that there are no MIDI files you are working on, you could delete the directories, BUT actually all that will probably happen, is that they will be reinstalled exactly where they were before, so the directories will be re-created. Myself, I tend to tidy up after an uninstall but I'm just a control freak!
HTH? Your m8 John.

Hi Terry, hope you and Patricia are well!! Firstly, i am in no way going against our resident guru JohnG's advice, just letting you know how it worked for me. My own experience of this is to remove from program files as well..i had to un-install and re-install after some problems i was experiencing and having removed the programs i re-installed the said discs....and it somehow conflicted, when i removed from program files after this everything was working perfectly!!

Hi Gerry, many thanks for suggestion re,sonar le & s/cell i have now removed everything & am all set to reinstall,as i mentioned i have arranged for someone to come in on monday to do the installing for me,i am a little nervous of which boxes to tick during the proccess just in case i tick the wrong ones & it may affect the workings of it when i go to use it ( it must be an age thing) ;D i have so many new songs in midi format i want to get in & edit & use, but without the nice quality of the sonic cell sounds they sound pretty ordinary,i need to improve my editing skills as well so have managed to get in touch with someone who is going to give me a little tuition in this area,( as usual everything comes with a price tag ) but to me i do get a lot of satisfaction out of playing to the oldies & i like to sound as professional as possible especially as i am being paid for my services, for me to get paid for something i enjoy doing & never having had the opportunity before to do this sort of thing during all those years of working two jobs or more to keep the family going i really am fired up with all of this music/entertaining stuff,& hey this ole bugger's nearly clocking 70 years so i've gotta make the best of it while its all good (one of these days i might be part of the audience!!! Sh#*) hey the best bit is Patricia is right behind me as well & really gives me plenty of encouragment she is also my best critic.I guess Ole Simmo's getting a little nostalgic sitting in front of the computer at 6.00am looking out at what is going to be another beautiful sunny day(around 30c) down here in Baldivis but hey lifes pretty good to us,no complaints, time for the 2nd cup of coffee then check on the War office to see whats planned for today, best wishes to all, Simmo

Hi Barry, thanks for your input, sadly the link you sent me about the sonic updates seems to have "done a runner" as we say over here,i went back through my emails,no luck so it is probably been deleted by mistake either that or you may have put in a post a while back on the site,i would appreciate a copy of it if you still have it on file,it would certainly help to have it here before the installation is put on my computer, sorry to be a bit of a pain, any help would be great, many thanks Simmo
