Hi all,
I'm thinking of going wireless in performing. i.e. in-ear monitor, wireless headset mike and wireless guitar. I'm using midi tracks from gm w2k tnks mostly to you guys.
Can anyone recommend an all in one wireless system. i.e. one headset with mike and monitor built in one. Monitor to be used for backing track sounds output mixed with guitar and vocal. So far I'm told I have to get them seperatly.
Any ideas welcome

I was actually thinking of going down this route once, might still do at some stage.
Re: your question. Maplins had a complete set up along the one you mentioned, this was a few year ago; all the stuff for vocals, wireless head set, and cordless handheld microphone, and an attachment for an acoustic guitar to go wireless.... they even had a wireless clip-on for a tie in case you wanted to do some public speaking at conferences. Not sure if they still have this all-in-one set up, but it might be worth contacting them.
NB: The one thing missing was the earpiece monitor.

I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area, but I think you have to have the two systems separate because they are both transmitting simultaneously. A "normal" transceiver cuts off one end as the other end transmits. Think of a CB radio, or when the radio operator says "over" then releases the transmit button. You can't use the same aerial for reception and transmission simultaneously, only alternately.
I think you've also got to put them on separate frequencies so the one doesn't overwhelm the other. And even locate them physically a short distant from each other. I.e body reception package for headphones e.g. on an armband, mic or instrument transmitter pack e.g. belt clipped on the other side.
Certainly Maplin still has the package Pat, check out their website.
There was a forum I came across where they had some stage managers who were running 20 or more of these simultaneously, or was it just stage mics? But I've forgotten the URL.
The upshot ... I think they have to be separate systems, sorry. But I'm no guru here. Just my 2d worth. JohnG.

It a great topic this. The thoughts of having ear monitors never saw light in my head before now, but I am going to look into it coz it just sound like such a good idea. I did think about the other aspect of the set up, though and may still go down that route now that John's confirmed Maplin still has the deal.

On another forum there was a woman singer / dancer who needed to be both mic'd and a headset for singing. Apparently the costume was fairly brief! She found an armband for a portable mp3 player to put the headphone pack in and apparently had the mic transmitter taped to her inside leg!!!! (Aerial pointing downwards you filthy swine!) Or was it the other way round. Sadly no pictures were provided. Can't remember HOW MANY offers she got to help her set up the rig before the gig. ;D JG.

Thanks to you both johng and emerald.
From my own investigation I think your right John about the 2 systems and its for the very reason of the different frequencys involved. I've ordered a LD mei1000 in-ear monitor set from Thomann.de following a conversation with one of their PA guys. I'll let you know how I get on. He also mentioned the importance of a good mike like Seinheisser or Sure and combine with and good receiver like LD. I'll try the wireless monitor first and see how I get on before jumping into the wi-fi mike bit. I'm looking forward to not lugging the big wedge monitor I currently use around.
I got the idea from a guy I saw performing in Dublin, walking amonst the crowd with guitar and Garth Brooks style headset in hand, he was free and able to walk on bar counter, out in the street and it was hillarous and so entertaining as well. He also looked as though he was having fun. I'd love to try it.
Any you guys seen any other performers like this ?

Good luck with that Tradman. I am looking forward to hearing what you think. Reading your comments about that guy in Dublin certainly gives one food for thought, I mean having that amount of freedom to interact with the audience sounds quite amazing.

I guess you're gonna need 2 transmitter packs and a receiver Pat!!!
Mic = 1, guitar = 2, headphones = 3. I guess one of them can go in the DA or the rocker's quiff! Should be plenty of hair to hide the receiver, eh?
Hee hee. JG.

Hi guys i`m a little bit late coming into this topic but i can confirm that john g is absolutely right you would need 2 different setups for the reason`s he stated In my younger days when i was drumming [ohh the memories lol] i used a shure sm10a headset with the shure shure vocal reciever it give me tremendous freedom to do my animal impersonation lol I still have 3 radio mics that i/or the guys would use i have 2 shure sm58`s and an audio technica as well all 3 are brilliant obviously the shure`s where a lot more cost than the technica but there is very little difference in quality I noticed Tradman that you are considering either a sennhieser or a shure paired to an ld reciever not sure who advised you of this but my tuppence worth is to pair the mic up to it`s relevant reciever to avoid any sound breakdown i talk from a little experience here a friend of mine was gigging at my local club and i called in for the `craic`he was using a shure `58`thru an LD reciever and his vocals were breaking down as he tried to move around the hall at the break my good lady went up and brought down my shure reciever and guess what no more blank spots in his vocals of course his unit may have had a fault i don`t know but for me it always pays to pair same with same anyway as JG would say thats my tuppence worth lol

Good one George, and I'd agree with your sentiments, but for another reason. If you do get problems, who do you go to for a resolution? Shure will say it's LD and, guess what? Yea, you got it! Another thing, Tradman, if you're buying from Thomann make sure you've got legal UK frequencies and UK mains plugs. Or should that be Eire frequencies? I like Thomann, I've spent a bit of dosh there over the years! MY tuppence, George!!!! JohnG.

Like weegeo...I'm late to this post...I have a Shure PG1288 headset and a TOA WT-730 Wireless tuner for my guitar......they work fine together...my only fault would be that the 'guitar wireless' looses signal if I was approx 30ft away....I remembered the 1st time I used them in the local hotel...I was on one of the tables at the end of the night playing Southbound Train by Travis Tritt and the place was rockin'...and at the end of the night...this man came up to me and told me that ''it might catch on...but do you not think that you were showing off a bit'' !!!!!!!!!....I was F*@KN raging.......it wasn't his kind of music....but I tend not to do the TIT TIT TIT TIT stuff.......I rarely use them now.....but maybe this post has rekindled the spark in me again.
