Can anyone shed any light on this phenomenon?
I have a number of midi files which play perfectly on vanbasco player in windows xp but only the drum track plays in windows vista.

I dont know about this specific problem but I know of 2 people that installed Vista and had no end of problems with various different parts of it. They have both ditched it and gone back to XP.

This is surprising. I have around 6000 MIDI files and they all play perfectly using Vanbasco and Vista.
Have you considered changing the MIDI format. Not sure if this will help but it might.

Like Pat, I have never had a problem with Vista apart that its not compatible with the creative external sound card.
All my MIDIS play fine with it.

Thanks for your comments guys, very interesting. As far as my own problem is concerned it is only some midis - actially quite a small fraction - that seem to have the problem. The peculiar thing is that only the drum tracks play.
Actually I haven't checked the midi type so I'll have a look at that.
