Just to follow on from Shyam`s post about how we started here`s a wee resume` of my career to date
I started quite by accident in 1963 at the age of 14 i was at my friends practise and their drummer couldn`t be there i was asked if i played of course i said `yea`i was very raw and inexperienced but i had started lol the band i think was called `tom thumb and the fingers`that short experience opened a few doors for me and i was asked to drum as stand in with a band called five by five they later changed their name to `method`and were very well known locally i was humble to have played with them as their full time drummer was a guy called wilgar campbell [google his name and be surprised] he was a genius and i learned my craft watching him from there i played in a 4pce r&b group called `klutz`i was with them for about 6 years fitting it in with art college were i trained as a silversmith it was during my time with `klutz`that i had the good fortune to be stand in for a local group that went on to become internationally famous their `hits`included `here comes the night` `gloria` and so on lol but i must emphasis only ever as a stand in during my time i have gigged with some of the finest musicians this country has to offer and some real classy guys that were never recognised 1 of these guys was a lad callled Terry Robb he could make a guitar talk he made it all look so easy he was quite magical i played with his band for 4 years and they were called `fernando`after i left them [well actually i was sacked lol] i did a few months on the cabaret scene and enjoyed that a lot i was asked to go back on drums with a band called `denver`which were a 5 pce outfit and were really very good we did at the height of the 70/80`s 4/5 nights a week all over ireland and over on the mainland i was with them for over 21 years i left them and decided to retire lol which lasted 2 months i went back and becaues of arthritus had to give up drums and went over to keyboard and `midifiles`and this is were i have stayed for the last lot of years i don`t gig much now due mainly to illness but i still run my band and would go and gig occasionally i guess when it`s in your blood your hooked lol There is 1 guitarist i haven`t mentioned his name is Trevor Forbes and i will relate some stories in another post
