,Hi folks Ole Simmo's starting to get back in he's stride if thats at all possible for an old crusty like myself,OK i'm sitting in front of the computer having a look at my S/Cell setup, when i left to go on our trip 4 months ago i had advanced to the stage where i could edit midi's using the editor function, change instruments, drumkits etc i have been trying to pick up on where i left off but am having a few problems, firstly i cant seem to change the drumkits plus a few other functions i used to be able to do prior to going away,i seem to have mislaid several lots of printed info sent to me from various members regarding the right procedures to get started prior to the editing itself.( Eldest son has been using the music room as well) so things have been moved aroud etc, the other simple explanation which i was reluctant to admit to is that "Ole Simmo" has been known to have "Senior Moments" or as i like to call them "Interlectual Interludes" ,anyway if anyone can give me any detailed info ;eg order of funtions needed to enable me to be able to get back to where i was prior to my holiday i would be most grateful.Hopefully a few more of the members have got a S/Cell & have a better understanding of its workings,at this stage i would be happy just to be able to edit the midifile using the goodie sounds of the instruments, drums etc which S/Cell has, save the file etc,i cant believe that i can't get back to where i was with the S/Cell before,i guess i should have been as well organised as our good friend John G then i could have picked up from where i left off.Well Ole Simmo has unburdened himself & is as keen as ever to get things moving again,i have enough material to keep the old folks gigs going but i am itching to get stuck into some new songs to expand my songlist,Best Wishes to all,it is certainly good to be back on board again amongst me old mates,Simmo, still catching up with 4 months backlog of jobs to do,latest news is that all our backlog of mail over the period we have been away (4 months has gone missing) so far we have had nobody trying to knock the front door down demanding payement ,will keep you posted ;D pardon the pun

Welcome back Terry hope you both had a great holiday. .......as regards the Sonic Cell Im sure John G mentioned doing up a tutorial sometime soon so that should be worth waiting up for .......as you know I sold on my SC nothing wrong with it just had something different in mind for my own personal projects.......but I d advise you in the meantime ... while waiting for John G ..to download the latest updates from here if you havent already done so .....they've increased the amount of songs the Editor can store from 99 songs to 399 which is great as well as a few other improvements so Im assuming your using Vista if not there's an XP upgrade there as well just look for the ver1.20 upgrade as well as the system upgrade 1.20 for your chosen OS.......when youve downloaded the file open it and look for the .bin file and copy that onto your usb stick switch off your SC insert the usb stick and switch back on you should then see it loading in the new update wait until you see "complete "I think thats what it says anyway and thats it updated .......maybe you've done all this already but just in case better to be fully updated saves complications further down the line.......have fun....regards p.s . as regards editing the drums etc you need firstly to be in Rhythm not Patch mode took me a while to realise this as well ;D Barry www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=897&tab=Support

Hi Barry, good to hear from you,yes we had a great trip & yes its so good to be back in our home territory again after wandering around the globe for 4 months,as you see i have slipped a bit behind with my s/cell editing since being away & am struggling a little to get back to where i was prior to going away, the new computer i use for music only for some reason is playing up a bit, some days when i fire it up it opens up but the mouse freezes up on the screen also none of the usb ports (front & rear) will recognise anything, memory sticks, camera, etc i have taken it down to the store where i bought it from some 6 months ago & it all works perfectly when he plugs it in so its a real mystery. As you say there may be a bit more info on the s/cell when John G can fit it in to he's very busy schedule, what a great character he is,you could not ask to meet a nicer fellow & that is speaking from personal experience, our meeting back in the summer was special & something i will always remember, all i've got to do now is to somehow entice him to drop in for an extended visit downunder, ply him with grog & bbqs & let him loose in my music room for a while to get it all sorted & i'll be set to Rock/n/Roll with all my midi's etc ;D,thanks for the tips on upgrading S/Cell,i do not have it installed on the internet computer will this be a problem or can i put it on a memory stick & transfer it to my music computer ??,anyway Barry thanks for all the info, hope all is well with the family, will keep in touch, best wishes ,Simmo

Hi Terry.. .....Yip you'd be inclined to forget things when you stay away from them for a while and 4 months is a long time but it'll all come back to you soon Im sure the other guys with sc will help out as well....as regards the upgrade you dont need to load it on to your pc just your sc download the file on to your internet pc and save it to your usb stick then load it into sc just dont forget the.bin file this is the important one you need to install if your having any probs gimme a shout ok........you could always check and see which ver your using save all the hassle if I remember correctly just go into system on your sc and it should give the ver ......as regards your pc freezing had that once needed to refresh and reinstall my usb ports maybe this link might help.. ...http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2008/05/how-to-refresh-and-reinstall-usb-ports.html hpanswers.blogspot.com/2008/05/how-to-refresh-and-reinstall-usb-ports.htmlits written by a guy from HP but I'd say the fix applies to all pc's.....good luck......catch ya later......regards Barry
