Firstly, let me say I feel a bit of a fraud posting in this section, being a singer that "strums a bit". I hadn't touched a guitar for years, but decided, during lockdown to give it another go. As I already said, I wouldn't class myself as a guitarist, just some who strums a bit. Anyway, my first course of action , in lockdown was to buy an electric with a headphone amp, tp get past the worst stage. Now I've swapped the electric for an Epiphone electro acoustic, which I love, but I'm not so keen on the D'addario strings that it came with, & would be grateful for suggestions. Years ago, I had an Eko Ranger 6, which I strung with Ernie Ball super slinky, but should these only be used on electrics? My second problem is the age old one, playing with a plectrum. I have some Dunlop ones, but I either one them completely when playing or they slip round & make the strumming uneven. In the past, I always tended to play with my fingers ( strumming, not picking), but I know that's not the proper way to play. I wold appreciate suggestions from you proper guitarists

try Ernie Ball or black diamond strings and make your own picks out of ice cream containers

Thanks Frankie, I used to have Ernie Ball Super Slinky on my old Ranger 6, I think I'll go o those again. Are picks made from ice cream containers easier to grip?
