Hi All. Thought i'd put this up as i'm sitting here (as i'm sure we all are ) with very little to do.
Gigs all cancelled , not getting outside the front door unless i take the missus for the shopping.
Anyway , some of my friends and i were supposed to be doing a charity gig in July, sadly it's been cancelled as well,
When we were in the same band ,many years ago , we did a four seasons medley.
So we thought it would be a good idea to resurrect it for the gig, along with a Beatles medley and a Shadows / Cliff Medley.
I already had midifiles done for the shadows / cliff and the Beatles as i do them at my usual gigs.
But the 4 seasons was a challenge as there is nothing suitable out there to buy .
We decided on the songs to go into the medley and i set about splicing and joining them together.
It took me days but i finally got a rough demo done. We gathered for rehearsal only to find out we can't sing in that keys anymore.
So we ditched a couple of the harder ones to sing and settled for a new medley.
This took days as well, but with fewer songs and lower keys it sounded great.
We were supposed to be meeting yesterday for rehearsals, but sadly it's all been put on hold.
But i thought i would run over the songs as i had nothing better to do.
Yesterday morning i ventured up to my wee studio in the loft, switched on the PC and loaded the midifile----Nothing.
It wouldn't play at all no matter how many times i tried it on Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.
Ah! i thought , ill try it on Cakewalk Sonar, and it loaded up and started Playing so i thought there was a problem with the Pro 9 programme.
But after a few bars the drums started playing out of sync . So i then thought the problem was with the PC.
So i uninstalled and reinstalled both programmes -- it still didn't work.
Then i decided to try the Beatles Medley --played no problem. I realised that the midifile was at fault.
I've never had this happen before so i was wondering if any of you guys ever had a similar problem ?
I normally sit with my laptop and get the file ready to go , put it on a memory stick and do the final mix on the PC.
So maybe the memory stick is at fault ? But all the other files on the stick are ok.
Any thoughts ? I'd appreciate any comments.
Regards
Eddie
PS Please stay safe
