Sorry Barry, I mis-addressed my response to Shyam instead of to you. And the answer is yes, but it is done by inserting a sysex message. I did write a brief tutorial on this but I think it is in the old forum, I must take a look and maybe move it across. It requires a sysex that looks like this F0 7F 7F 04 01 ss tt F7 (all values are hexadecimal). The "ss" and "tt" contain the Least Significant Byte and Most Significant Byte (LSB and MSB) of the volume data. Most systems only respond to the MSB. So It gets to be F0 7F 7F 04 01 00 7F F7. The 2nd last byte carries the value, 7F = 127. You will need to use the Windows calculator in scientific mode to calculate the value you want. If you are using it for gigs then you would need to make sure that you had one a short while after the GM reset on every song. I can't remember without searching whether it is reset by the GM reset or not. Its default is value is 127. I'll generate an "syx" file for use in Cakewalk for this and post it. Here it is: www.4shared.com/file/133811555/1ea0a7b4/MASTVOL.htmlYou'll need to edit the 2nd last byte to what you want. Hex .......... Decimal 7A to 7F = 122 to 127 70 to 79 = 112 to 121 6A to 6F = 106 to 120 60 to 69 = 96 to 119 Any help? Best regards, JohnG.

Hi Barry,
The "syx" file is a file that can be embedded within a Cakewalk created, or modified, MIDI file. It's commonly referred to as a sysx bank, and it can be inserted where you want it by using a combination of "sysx view" and "list view". One tutorial coming up.
Look for a tutorial in my MIDI tutorials section called something like "inserting SysEx events into CWPA9".
