If you want to convert a whole batch of midis, Roland's Sound Canvas has an app that will convert midis to wave files (based on the SC sounds) then it's just a matter of using a freebie like Audacity to convert the wave files to MP3. There's a great little freebie call MP3 Gain for setting all MP3s to the desired levels. Personally, I'd do them one at a time. "Audio Recorder For Free" has the ability to directly record to MP3, you just set the desired resolution and hit record and let the app do all the work. Recording into Audacity as waves before converting to MP3 allows you to tweak volumes, cut dead space etc. I'm sure that there are probably newer apps to do this stuff nowadays, I'm still using midi at my gigs but sometimes make MP3s for others to use. Hope this helps, Gibbo.

I've been messing around with a program called Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth...which has a midi to mp3 converter built right into it...You just load the .mid file into it and hit convert..simple as that...Good results too...

Cheers, Dave (Gibbo) Sorry Gibbo for not getting back to you I tried it but didn't like the change from midi to mp3 so I'll just stick with the midi"s Thx No worries. I only pop in here every now and then. I still use midi with a couple of Roland XV5050 modules at the gigs. I also use midi to switch effects off and on, change effects and harmonizer programs etc. Midi has more than a few advantages over MP3, not the least of which is key-change without sound degradation. Keep on rockin'. Cheers, Dave

I tried converting Midi to MP3 a few years ago using a program called Mixcraft, it used it's own sound fonts so the nd result sounded pretty good!
