Hi guys and gals, From time to time I have to make up weird and wonderful midi files, and I have never had a problem with any I have made up. Until now. I have made a file up but I can't get the drums to play correctly. Individually, each drum plays and sounds fine, but as soon as I play them all together they all choke up and sound dreadful. Would anyone be able to help me out by correcting the drums, and tell me what I have done wrong please. TIA Ian HOWLOW.MID (59 KB)

Hi Ian The track plays fine on my system what module are you using to play them through? you could try initialising the module happened a few times on my Sound Canvas before...at roughly what measure do you find this happening all the way through or just at certain points in the track?. See if this one plays properly now HOWLOW EDIT.mid (46.25 KB) Regards Barry

Hi Barry,
It was made up on an ancient Yamaha QY700 where it plays fine. When I put it into my Roland Discover5M the drums choke, almost as if there are too many events for it to cope with. The edit you did plays the drums as a piano. I am going to go back to the beginning and try processing it again.
I really appreciate your help in trying to sort this out. I've made many tracks up this way in the past and never had a problem. I've obviously had a brain fart and done something stupid, I just can't see what at the moment. I will persevere and let you know if I can find out the issue.
Thanks again.
Ian

Sorry for the delay in replying Barry, I got to the bottom of the problem in the end. I used the basis of your edited file that you kindly did for me, deleted the crash cymbals and the ride cymbal and the problem disappeared. I then recorded the cymbals to the file on an old Yamaha PSR8000 keyboard and I didn't have the problem anymore. Not sure why the QY700 wouldn't play ball on this file. Your help was greatly appreciated Barry. Ian
