Hi All. Just Wondering if anyone uses an audio interface. I've been using a normal mixing desk for doing midi tracks and some recording, but i'm hearing that the best way is with an audio interface. I use Audacity to convert midi to mp3. Does anyone use one or know about them? Does it replace a mixer or do you plug it into your mixer? Or any other advice /pointers.
Thanks for any help

Hi Eddie I use a Focusrite Audio Interface myself here (there are cheaper ones out there that would do the same job) its a pre amp so no mixer needed really just change your audio settings to your interface any Audio software (sequencer) should work for you so Audacity shouldn't be a prob. There are diff types out there depending on how many inputs your gonna need I just have 2 inputs on mine can be used as jacks for an instruments or XLR for your mic if needed. Some come with usb or firwire cable I use firewire as Im told they are much faster with less drop- outs. Here's a few to look at www.thomann.de/ie/usb_audio_interfaces.html If you need anymore info gimme a shout I might be able to help you out ok. (Sorry about the delay in replying just saw this post now ) Regards Barry
