Hi John .. ....think this topic may have been covered in the old forum not too sure .........anyway is there any chance if you get the time you might run a quick tutorial on ways of removing fade ins/outs from midis .......I usually either delete the vol/expression data or use the cut/copy/ paste function which can be a bit laborious at times esp if its a long fade in/ out ........btw Im using CWPA9...........many thanx Im sure your probably tied up right now with your sequencing but if you get time you might help me out ....many thanx........regards Barry

Okay guys, you asked fer it!
One tutorial in CWPA9 format coming up on how to edit fade outs. Thought I'd done it before somewhere, but maybe not.
First though, can you each send me a MIDI file you would like me to use as an example, an attachment to my regular e-mail address will do just fine. Might as well use a useful example eh?
It'll also help me from having to sort through a coupla thousand MIDIs to find ones with appropriate endings.

Heres how I do it.
1 Piano roll 2 Tool Bar 3 Drop down menues control 4 Expression or volume 5 All Channels 6 Select eraser 7 Erase graph at end of file only 8 Select a part of the file to create an outro and cut and paste it at end.

Got it Barry, I'll be working on it today. I've taken 15 or so screen shots of the file Gerry sent me and will wrap some words around them. I'll take a look at the file you sent me as soon as I've written this. Essentially, if you know you're way around CWPA then what Frank has written is one of the ways to do it. I'll show you another one too.
Frank also makes a good point that when the fade is removed, the file may have an incomplete ending. It may then need, as Frank also says, a bit of each track added to the end to make an outro. A simple cut and paste can usually fix this.
I'll post the tutorial over in my tutorials section of the forum, hopefully later today.
Best regards, JohnG.

Thanx John and Frank also . .....would it also be possible John while your at this to show us how to restore a fade out...in other words ...sometimes a fade out will actually last until the proper ending so there might not be a need a for a copy/paste job etc .... so if you could explain how to not just remove the fade but actually restore it to its original volume at the end if you follow.......and one more thing sorry John but might as well get it out of the way while were on the subject..........tried to put an ending into a song yesterday and for the first time this happened.........cut the fade out and copy and pasted a piece for an outro but the fade returned again should I have maybe deleted the controlers as well as the graph ? thanx Barry
