I'm just a midi fan, I like to collect them and play along for my own enjoyment. I've got the S900 out again and am searching out the many places I used to 'hang out' ... it's disappointing to see so many are quiet or even closed I'm glad to find this still up and running I look forward to reading through the posts, getting my head back into it again ... and gathering a few midis too!

Welcome back Aprilla. I still love the freedom that midi files give rather than using mp3's, but I realise I am in the minority. 10 years ago there were loads of midi file hardware players to choose from, these days there are just a few. Everything seems to be tablet based these days.

thanks oliver101, I don't have that kind of knowledge of midi, it's just me and my keyboard in a room having fun LOL But I can see a massive difference in the past couple of years. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, unless it got too expensive, midi files seem to me so much more versatile than mp3s for making music. Things move on I guess but I'm sticking with my midis

welcome back Aprilla, yes things do change and everything is getting tablet based but there are some things that still haven't been bettered.Midi does give you more freedom to tweek things to your own personal taste and enjoyment.I still use my mini disc player at gigs and probably will do until it packs in. Hi Bigmike, "if it ain't broke" I'm going through the tutorials, here and at the tutorial board. But I guess by the time I get to grips with midi they'll be obsolete, bit like myself so that's ok Gonna go make a few requests... there's a nice selection of Irish titles bringing back memories

Well, it's been around for thirty years now, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was still in use in another thirty.
Nice to see you over at MIDI tutes.
I've just written another basic tutorial as the first part of basics. Hope it makes sense.

Thanks JohnG, your tutorials are so good that I always think I understand them while I'm reading. Unfortunately my brain is a bit of a strainer, I am persevering though. (and maybe spending too much time reading....)
