I was looking back through the forum and found a post back in 2012 re: using different style players at gigs for midi or just Mp3.
I was just wondering now we are 2015 almost 2016, what you guys are using these days if any, with all the amazing new technology around, and bands getting smaller and smaller.
I started off with tapes, then moved on to mini disc for many years, and the last four years have been using a DJ style twin media player which uses USB and SD cards for the media storage, but now even these players are becoming obsolete, so I'm interested to hear what you guys use these days? I'm thinking of maybe changing my set up but not really sure what way to go if I do.

Ipad, with an app called BackTrax. The app costs about £6, & it's great. You can set up playlists,& load the next song from a different playlist. You can also add lyrics & scroll them.

Something similar to ziggy Ipad and software called Livetrax Pro ... literally drag your songs from pc into iTunes add lyrics if you want set up playlists etc then just sync up to your ipad ... backup to icloud in case of any mishaps all your songs are safely there . Best thing I ever done also bought one of those ipad clips which attaches to the mic stand and bobs your uncle. \ Jacqui we had a thread about this here a while back in case you forgot about it midihangout.proboards.com/thread/5636/ipad-gigging

No Barry, I never forgot cheeky, I just wondered if any new technology for music may have passed me by, that was in 2013, so thought there may have been an update, but it's looking like the ipad is still the way forward, I just wish it had a bigger screen, and I worry about how easy it is to play one track and find another to line up, I'm not very good with playlist, I always change my mind, it's a women's thing!

With Backtrax, you touch "load" to select songs from the music folder, then save them as, for example, "Beatles", then do the same for another artist/decade/genre. These are your playlists, each time you touch load, the list of playlists drops down for you to select whichever you want, this can be done, (and the next song selected), whilst playing. It really is easy.

Sounds ideal, I think I'll look at getting an ipad.
