Hi all, Rainbow here and the Simmos are in da House!! Ole Simmo has been unable to get any photos up ... not least because he hasn't really had access to a computer and has had to make do with using computers in local libraries ... not the best of environments really. So to start, here are a couple of links to photos taken when Terry & Pat met up with John Gee and his lovely new wife Suzanne (hope I've got the right spelling) earlier in July, in Wells, Somerset: www.4shared.com/file/122937975/dba6e861/JOHN_GEE_1.htmlwww.4shared.com/file/122939159/eeae043/PAT__SUZANNE.htmlWill post more recent photos of Terry & Pat's stay with us here in the wild Cambridgeshire fens over the next couple of days. Best regards ... Rainbow:)

Aaargh! Who is that twerp on the left? Obviously the local brew had already got to me. So cool we all wore pullovers. Typical British summer! Didn't stop Susanne (note spelling, but only one S exchanged for a Z, good try Rainbow) hunting for an ice cream afterwards. My apologies Terry and Pat for leading you around the city in an almost futile search to feed Susanne's craving. The beer and the lunch was good though, and the company first class. The time just flew by! Sadly it's all just a distant dream now. I haven't forgotten the invitation to Perth though. I visited the East Coast, some years back, on business, Brisbane and Sydney, and was scheduled to run a course in Perth, but it was postponed and sadly never rescheduled. Now wee Georgie we'll have less of that if you don't mind! Cradle snatcher maybe, but not young enough to be my daughter, er ... quite. JohnG.

Hi all, Continuing the 'Simmo's Travel Photos' thread ... here are just a few of those taken over the couple of days we have been spent in the great company of Terry & Pat on this leg of their epic travels. www.4shared.com/file/123025515/92f70dc4/TERRY.htmlwww.4shared.com/file/123307115/c3a34c5d/GRA_TERRY2.htmlwww.4shared.com/file/123307659/ab36d3f7/BON_VOYAGE.html We've had a smashing time together and talked and played music and shared some time and a couple of memorable meals in our part of the Fens. Terry and I have even squeezed in an hour this morning to record his vocal on a 'collab project' which, though it needs a bit of working on, will hopefully find it's way to the members stage area of the forum fairly soon. The last photo of the 3 above shows the £300 'banger' in the foreground which so far has done sterling service on the epic travels and all being well will continue to do so on the next leg which is to take in the 'Emerald Isle' from Monday 10th. August, I believe, and I expect Terry will be posting further details in the very near future just as soon as he can get access to a computer. As Jacqui said yesterday in a posting above ... it's great how this forum has created friendships all around the globe and I know that the Simmos mob and the Rainbow clan have formed a lifelong friendship Hope to see more photos posted as the Simmos continue to meet up with other members of the forum and I guarantee you'll have a lot of fun ;D ;D ;D Best regards ... Rainbow:)

Boy, I really like to hear stories like that. Some meetings don't go quite so well. One member of the forum came to see me, seeing as they were going to be in the Los Angeles area for a visit. I'll not mention names here. When he came, I showed him my set-up and took him out to a place I often go. As far as I knew, everything went ok, but come to find out later, it did not. It all had to do with it raining and it being rather late at night when we returned to my house. I asked this person if they wished to stay overnight rather than drive over 100 miles back to where he was staying. This person wishy-washed the answer, not accepting but not saying an out and out no. I offered choices if where to sleep, plain old regular couch or pull-out bed, and I even got the bedding out for that. This person kept saying they needed to head back. Well to me that means, 'No, I'm not staying." I've learned that when a man says something, he usually means it. So, I bid him farewell and ask them to PLEASE let me know he arrived at his destination safely, and then again to let me know when he arrived back home.
I heard nothing back. I wrote to him and got no replies to my queries. Finally, after seeing posts on the forum from this person, I wrote a message asking, WTF? The reply was that I didn't ask for him to stay over & the drive back was extremely stressful as he didn't know the area and it was raining. I was very angry at the accusation and I refused to take the blame for it, reminding him of me getting the bedding out and moving the coffee table to have access to the pull out bed. Needless to say, that was the last interaction with that person. :-(
The Moral of the Story here is: When you walk in my door you become a member of the family, with all it's trials and tribulations. If you come to visit me, don't play the polite guest routine. If you are hungry or thirsty, say so or, just go open the refrigerator. LOL! If you are tired, say so. If you want to say here, say so.

jazzcat, that couldn't have been a member of THIS forum !!!!!!!! Over here, I've been "complaining" that no one visits me ......... now I'm getting tired of complaining !!! Ever since my cook left, I've been having a ball in the kitchen and I believe I cook real good !!!! Why aren't any of you coming over ? Prefer Hot dogs and Bugers to good wholesome Indian Curry and Rice ? We are totally NON VEGETARIAN and we eat beef too !! My humble home is yours.

A big Hi to all, just managed to sneak into the local library in Prestbury (Cheltenham) to catch up with all the news from the mob out there & to say a big thankyou to all the Rainbow Clan for the way they all put themselves out when Patricia & i dropped in for a flying visit in the last couple of days,we booked into the local pub (recommended by Graham) for one nights B & B which turned out to be two nights owing to the wonderful kindness & friendlyness shown to us by Graham & family,we were really touched & as Graham remarked earlier we will certainly have a lifetime friendship between our families, this also applies to our prior meetings with Geoff ( Allegro) & family) whom we will be looking forward to revisiting before heading back home & it goes without saying of course the one & only John G & charming wife Susanne whom we met a little earlier, who could forget that day in Wells,(the weather pehaps ) ;D ;D but not the hours we spent in the local pub just chatting about evrything.hopefully we will have the pleasure of catching up with the Irish branch of M/Hangout when we spend the next week over in that beautiful part of the world, times running out ,not sure when i can get online again but our UK mobile number is on a previous post if needed to contact us,best wishes to all ,the Simmos

Hi Terry and Patricia, it was good day wasn't it? How could the time go SO quickly? We'd no sooner arrived than we were leaving again. Must save up my pennies for a trip to Perth. Was going to say summat about sunshine, but it's 31C and sunny here at the mo. Due to change for the weekend though. What's new? So pleased the Cambridge bit went so well, but I didn't expect to hear different. Long may the 300 quid car last. Hope the Irish leg is as good, but then how could it be otherwise? Take care the Simmos, JohnG.
