Belgium seem to be the dark horse. Definatley the best World Cup I ever saw. The underdogs were great, They equipped themselves well and put on some nail biting performances against the favoured teams. Poor old England! Their always playing catchup. Too many Foreign players playing in their Leagues and with the pressures managers are under for results I can't see this changeing...........G

I think Argentina have an edge on Brazil and for the Europeans you just cant go past the Germans. So for me its one of these two. Jimmy I refer to my post on June 8th, five days before the start of the World Cup. Who's a clever boy then

What is really depressing is that, after England's dismal showing (again), looking at the transfer news & all the premiership clubs are STILL chasing foreign players. Perhaps too many foreign managers? They should reduce the wages they pay, & then the overseas players wouldn't be so keen, & if the English players wanted to go abroad for better wages, the clubs would be forced to find new local talent. OK, so they wouldn't do very well, perhaps, in the Champions League for a few seasons, but we may actually find an English team that plays with the passion that some of the unfancied teams like Costa Rica did. The FA should reduce the number of foreigners allowed in the squads & impose a minimum number of English players per match (or Welsh for Swansea & Cardiff). The same goes for the other UK & Irish leagues.

Sorry to disagree Ziggy, but what I thought that enhanced the Football League and strengthened the Home Nations were Uk players like Kenny Dalglish, Denis Law, Ryan Giggs, Gareth Bale, George Best and Sammy McIlroy to name a very few. I'm sure George Best would not have had the same possibilities in a Utd team today as he had in 1963. He would have been a treasure lost.
