Congratulations to you both Tommy - quite an achievement these days. Celebrated our own 50 years with "she who must be obeyed" last October. I hope we all have lots more anniversaries to celebrate. Watch the dentures on that cake though! lol

Hi again Tommy, great pic mate of yourself & your good lady on your fiftieth anniversary, all the very best wishes to you both from both Patricia & myself, where does the time go, its almost a rarity what with the way the world is going these days. Patricia & myself are coming up our 54th this coming September & still loving it, we must have picked the right gals Tommy. We had a registry office wedding in 1961 & paid for the reception ourselves which left us in a position to come up with a two hundred pound deposit ( which took forever in those days to save up )on an old run down middle of terrace house instead of going down the road of most young couples in those days of literally blowing all of their savings on a big flash white wedding with all of the frills & then go & live with the in-laws until your name came up years later ( & usually plenty of stressful times as well ) for a council house as I believe they were called in those days. I actually googled the address where we began our married life ( 8,Lyminster Road, Wick Littlehampton Sussex ) on google earth the other day and it still looks the same after all those years ago. It is great to look back at the old days with all of those precious memories even though my job at that time was labouring on the road works in all weather conditions for around twelve pound a week on a five & a half day week in all , we were paying out eight pound a month on a 1200 pound mortgage living in a home with minimum furniture. Patricia was working in a co-operative drapery shop to help us get by.Our transport consisted of an old Morris 8 which is probably worth a bomb these days, but regardless of the conditions we were very contented with our lot. I guess this is starting to look like a typical Ole Simmo rambling but as it is Mothers day tomorrow in Aussie I had better start wrapping up Patricia's little gift ( & BOY IS SHE WORTH IT ).
BEST WISHES TO ALL....SIMMO
