Hi folks, just another bit of gossip from down Simmo's way, got an interesting little gig coming up on the 8th Feb, it came about through the sale of one of my CDS, it sounds pretty interesting so I thought that I would share it with the forum, it is at a country town Nannup which is about 3-4 hours south of Baldivis, it will certainly make a change from my aged care etc gigs, attached is the flyer.
An Evening of Music in the Vineyard – A Fundraiser for local Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades
An idea that started with the offer from Perth based performer, Terry Simpson, to perform to help raise funds for the Darradup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade (VBFB) was evolved into An Evening of Music in the Vineyard to be held at Jalbarragup Estate Vineyard, Jalbarragup on 8th February 2014.
Keryl Rutter from the Darradup VBFB said that “We saw this as a great opportunity to help raise funds, not just for our Brigade, but for the other local Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades who wanted to be involved. In addition to Terry Simpson we have been able to arrange for the quintet The Tiger and Me, who are based in Melbourne, to perform, along with local Nannup musicians Laurie Forbes, on guitar, with TOFS. All funds raised on the night will go the VBFBs involved.”
“The line-up has music for varying tastes from the Golden Guitar of Laurie Forbes with TOFS to the ‘Cabaret/Circus/Euro Indie Folk-Pop Wunderkinds’ (as described by Inpress Magazine) of The Tiger and Me from Melbourne to Australia’s answer to Willie Nelson, Mr Terry Simpson from Perth” Mrs Rutter said.
The concert will be held on Saturday 8 February 2014, starting at 7.30pm. It is a family friendly and smoke free event. Tickets cost $20 per person, with a $50 Family ticket (2 + 2) and free entry for children under 5. People are encouraged to come early; gates will open at 6.30pm, to enjoy a picnic overlooking the vines and river gums. People can pre-order picnic hampers.
Tickets are available from Darradup and other local VBFBs. Picnic hampers can be ordered from Keryl Rutter on 9756 0882.
