I've just put an ad in gumtree looking for a partner to gig with, the trouble is that all the crappy replies that come before anyone sounding as if they might fit the bill replies but hopefully I'll find someone as I prefer to work with another person, I find it more enjoyable.

My opinion for what its worth.
Go and check other acts and see if anyone wants to pair up.That way you can see and hear them so you wont need to much of an audition.Try and find someone who favors a different key to you.
