Hi folks, just a bit of local news from the Simmo's, had a busking session this morning,( sunday) not to busy what with the current heatwave conditions, fewer folks ventured out, however it was worthwhile going,it gives me an opportunity to test a few new songs & catch up with everyone. Got home around midday feeling pretty knackered, nothing that a bit of drink & tucker can't fix up. Went out in the front yard to check a couple of things only to see a pretty nasty bushfire had sprung up just over the road in a bit bush, it took off pretty quick as the conditions are very dry, Patricia raced out & snapped the fire from our front yard with her Ipad. At this stage the fire brigade had not arrived. imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/824/8jrp.jpgnot sure that I have got the link right....Simmo Ps just a tad cooler from our record 44.4c yesterday pps the water bombers are just finishing mopping up. Also we got a message from number 2 son who lives up in the hills on their property saying that the may have to evacuate there home as a pretty big out of control bushfire is heading towards them.

Hi folks, just an update on our bushfire situation, one of our sons's & family who live about an hour away on a few acres in Stoneville in the hills area where the fires have taken hold in a serious way contacted us to say that the road to there property has been closed due to the dangerous conditions, they have been given the option of staying put & do the best that they can to protect the house ,sheds etc or if they decide to leave they will not be allowed back until the situation has improved, up to date 27 homes have been destroyed by the fires that are springing up randomly due to the windy conditions, sadly their has been on death, unfortunately because of the huge areas involved there aren't the resources available, they have several air borne aircraft including specialised helicopters working non stop during daylight hours but it is the strong gusty winds that are causing the most problems whereby the fires are breaking out ahead of the main fires, will keep you poste as more news comes to hand.If you google Perth hills fires I'm sure that more info is available as it happens...Simmo

Hi again folks, been gigging this afternoon 2.00pm-3.00pm which is 6.ooam-7.00am UK time, the bushfires are being contained at the moment owing to the wind dropping in the Stoneville area where our family live & up to now 49 homes have been lost to the fires but a large area hasn't been accounted for as yet. Our family who live up there are safe for the moment & we are keeping in touch with them for all of the latest developments..Simmo

Hope you and your family remain safe Simmo. We have a problem with fires in Cyprus too but fortunately we've never had our place under threat. I guess that's one of the risks we take for living in a hot climate. Take care.
