Just wondering if anyone uses Torrents to download from the internet. A friend came by over the weekend with his Laptop, and showed me btjunkie.com that he has been using. I was wondering if they are Legal & Safe to use, are they all the same or do different sites contain different content, can they view private information on your PC, should you have to pay or are they free sites generally. He was showing me latest films just out on DVD, but with lots of codes after the titles, which he or I did not understand, I think so far he has only downloaded a few albums from the site. Some of the files looked like really large files, he said he downloads them, copies to a cd then deletes the files, but is that the way it works, is the whole file on you PC or is it just linking to a main site somewhere . Any advice ideas, or experiences would be most helpful. Jacqui

My advice would be stay well away from them Jacqui, it is illegal file sharing...and i believe there is a big crackdown on the way...especially for movies.....the torrent itself is legal...but the content mainly shared is copyright. I heard of a guy who downloaded a film and a week later had a letter from Paramount stating they knew he had illegally downloaded one of their films.

I have also heard that the visuses (or viri) whichever is the plural, are horrendous.
Stay away Jacqui.
