I have only had venison once and that was when I was visiting Norway I had a Norwegian boyfriend back in the day anyway we were at his parents house his Dad was a Parson and we were having very formal Sunday Lunch with his family and friends, everyone spoke very little English, being polite I complemented his mother on the lovely food, and asked what it was we were eating, in broken English she announced that is was " How you say in English that cute little animal from the films Bambi!" I've never had it since or forgotten that meal!
