Doh,I cant seem to be able to get to the volume controll to erase in the editing graph to delete the fade out in Jerry's midi.I drag and click but it remains green. Any suggestions or other method I could use.Too many to do in the event edit screens. Using Cakewalk pro audio with wins XP. It may have been an installation cock up not sure. Have fixed file using wins 98 and cakewalk 3

Frank have you tried erasing the fade track by track as opposed to all tracks together don't think its possible but I could be wrong ... its a bit of a pain but works that way for me . I usually just cut off the fade and copy/paste new ending if possible from the sequence itself much quicker I find . Barry

Barry I did each track with cakewalk 3 and wins 98 ok.It wouldn't let me do it with Cakewalk Pro 9 and XP.It highlighted the graph but wouldn't delete.I have done it now,it's just a hastle to haul out the old laptop. Couldnt cut and paste this one due to an instrumental outro.

Just done it there in Pro9 no problem using Win7 myself but that shouldn't be the issue as its an old prog should work fine . I have my compatability mode set at XP SP2 but there's still some bugs in my version can't access the help files but don't really use it much anyway. Anyway your sorted now

Have fixed file using wins 98 and cakewalk 3 Frank, Just thought I'd throw a suggestion your way,but instead of finding and erasing each volume message in the tracks(which takes too much time and is a major PITA),have you thought about this? (I do this myself when I edit, and it is very easy) Select all your tracks, and set your markers in cakewalk from the beginning of song to end as you would normally do... Don't go through and cut line by line all the volume events... Top Menu--Go to "edit" then "select" and then choose "filter"... You choose the certain control event you want to filter(in this case,CC#7--Minimum box will be #7 and maximum box will also be #7) and hit ok. It will choose JUST those events and mark them for copying/pasting/or cutting out completely. Now when you execute the "cut" command,it will only cut those volume control messages out,and leave everything else in! In the instances where you have some other volume changes happening in the track(s) that you DO WANT to remain there,I usually just interpolate those events, and change them to CC #11 expression(which essentially will do the same thing as volume, and works the same way with swells, crescendos, and decrescendos. I found out the hard way after many times of doing what you are doing now...and this filter will allow you to choose anything,a specific range of notes, other control messages, notes within a certain velocity range,etc)...It's a very useful tool..I'm just not in love,I am in LUST with cakewalk. LOL Just thought I'd give you the info..If you already knew about this, disregard. If not, hoping it helps you in your future MIDI edits. Take Care, Mike
