Hi Guys .recently got myself the Sonic Cell a great piece of equipment and need a bit of time to get to grips with it all....but before I go editing all my hunderds of midifiles which I intend to have with me gigging eventually as well as a few wav and mp3's how do I go about playing my previously edited midis (usiing the cakewalk'sound canvas sounds ) in Sonic Cell in other words bypass the SC internal sounds (if possible) because at the moment the instruments are not assigned as intended and the levels all over the place ..I know I can just convert my files over to mp3 and theyll play fine but I just dont have the time at the moment to do all this ...all i want for now is to use the SC as a midifile player ........I realise this must be sysx/data/bank issue what info would I need to insert into my midis to achieve this ...I have inserted a system gm reset at the beginning of each file with some success but still not spot on but at least theyre playing in the right bank now ......John I know your familiar in this field with hexacons and the like but its all fairly new to me so any help with this one would be greatly appreciated .....many thanx ..regards Barry

Hi Barry, You and Simmo both! I have it down on my list of things to do. As soon as I get back from the UK I plan to start on this. So You'll have to hold on 'til the end of the month. Hope that's okay? All the best, JohnG.

Hi Solo.....i have been using sonic cell at gigs for over a year now and have had no problems at all. A far more superior sound than mini-disc players which i had hassle with down the years....go for it mate!!

Hi Barry, I got an e-mail from the Sonic Cell forum which was a circulated posting on the forum and it's yourself asking the same question you posted here ... glad you found your way there mate ... it's been a bit quiet of late but I notice you've drawn out what seems to be a useful reply. If I read it right you need to nominate either 'Patch Mode' for playing your midi files with the Sonic sounds or 'Performance Mode' for playing them as per those nominated in your cakewalk sound canvas (don't use this myself as you know so not my area really) ... but the trick is to set your default at boot-up ... seems to make sense and might get you sorted. Have you tried this yet? Best regards ... Graham:)

This Sonic Cell looks really interesting for live work BUT... can you really have the flexibility to select according to mood at the gig. What I mean is, I understood the Sonic Cell to not have much of a screen to display stull like play lists etc. so how versatile is it really? Or d you need to have fixed sets programmed in.
Ken

Hi Ken,re, the sonic cell,i have one but i have not used it live as i do find that the screen is a bit on the small side, but hey i'm a bit of of an 'old crusty' so you might find it ok, i think several of the members may be using it live so hopefully you may get some positive comments,it is a real mean piece of equipment otherwise & i am only in the learning stage with the editing etc, hope this helps, trouble is my being away for 4 months on our holiday i will probably have to start from scratch again,(sorry about that John G) ;D ;D,best wishes, Simmo

You don't programme anything into it for live gigs Kenja...you put your playlist onto a usb stick, stick it in the back and away you go...i have 5 usb sticks with all mine on it, using the navigator feature you can scroll through to whatever song you need to play, or what suits the mood, granted the screen is on the small side but i have no probs with it, to put it simply, it blows minidisc players out of the water, no comparison whatsoever, it only has the capacity at the moment to play 99 songs on the usb...but if you have 4 or 5 usb sticks with you at the gig thats up to 500 songs and if their isn't something to please all on that amount of tunes then i give up!!
And versatile wise, you would nearly fit it in your pocket bringing it to gigs.
