Hello and good morning(here at this time) to all... I got a call to do a lot of "R&B" style music for a gig in the next two months, and a lot of the tunes that were requested involve that vocoder sound... While I thought at first that I could get away with using my TC Helicon Voiceworks, and just do some major eq'ing edits, and shift the pitch way down in the lower octaves, maybe double the sound,I'd get something at least close to that sound...After some short short short work in the studio.... Major fail! I did some follow up reading on those units, and the basics are that you have a sound to be shaped, and then another signal to shape the sound. Reading this, and not having any previous knowledge of how vocoders work,I did not have any chance of making something like that work on a harmonizer. I am not looking to spend mega bucks on a top end unit, but the more and more I hear the vocoder samples on youtube, the more I like The Electrix Warp Factory Module...Thinking about purchasing it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdfV2xOJf50This company Electrix actually makes a lot of other nice units as well...Anybody have any music time with this one or their other units, actually own one,and use it on their gigs? Thanks guys for any help! If I can get this together,I can imagine I'm going to have a LOT of fun at this upcoming gig!
