Hi Tom Depends on the storage media you choose I guess. If your midi files are stored on floppies the disks themselves can deteriorate over a period of time causing to midis to skip distort and sometimes play weird sounds always best to change the disks every so often . Also the heads on midi file players can wear down and cause all sort of weird things to happen to the files . But the data itself won't deterirorate . Barry
