OK then, as threatened. Here we go.
A chap gets thrown into a prison cell, he doesn't know why. The cell has two doors and the only things he does know about his predicament are that one door leads to freedom and the other door to something else, not very nice. The other thing he knows is that the cell is guarded by two jailers - one ALWAYS tells the truth, the other one ALWAYS lies - he doesn't know which.
The riddle is...what question can he ask either guard so that he will get the same answer and therefore know which door leads to freedom?
Good luck. If you don't solve it, I'll give you the answer on Sunday. Take care Bri
(Told ya I'd get ya back Gerry).....walks away screaming with laughter. Hee hee hee!!!

Nope, he doesn't know which jailer is which, so which one is he gonna ask? He'll get a different answer from each. And also, as you made the point, what's he gonna say? Good try though. Take care Bri

Aha, I remember this one from ages ago.
You have to ask a double question, then you get 2 positives from the good guy and a double lie from the bad one. But what is the question? Actually I do remember. "If I ... !" But I won't post it to see if others can figure it out." JohnG.

Here’s how I worked it out with a little inspiration from Kev ( Shanless)
He has one question, I think. He goes to either guard, it doesn’t matter which and asks him “If I ask that other guard which door is the door to freedom what will he tell me?” Bearing in mind that One can’t Lie and One can’t tell the Truth Whatever answer the guard he asks gives him he makes the opposite choice.
Say Door A is the door to freedom and door B is the door bad things.
Call the Guards C and D. Say Guard C is the truthful one although he the prisoner doesn’t know this. Say Guard D is the Liar although he the prisoner again doesn’t know this.
If he should happen to pick C the Truthful One, The Truthful One will say, that Guard D the other Guard and Liar, will tell him that Door B is the door to freedom So that Guards answer is B. If the prisoner does the opposite and picks A. He has the right one.
If he should happen to pick D. The Liar, The Liar will say that the other Guard C will tell him that Door B is the door to freedom which is a lie… Guard C being truthful would say that door A is the one to freedom So that Guards answer is also B. Again if the Prisoner does the opposite and picks A He has the right one.
The opposite to the answer that which ever guard he asks gives him, is the solution. It’s the best way I can explain this…………..Well done Bri……This is a cracker………..Gerry.

Absolutely correct, Gerry. Also got your email about it last night...cried all night, I did. Brilliantly worked out. You're a genius. I must admit that I wasn't looking forward to giving out the explanation, so I'm glad you did it. Once again, very well done. Take care Bri
