Was doing a gig last Saturday in the open air and at times had difficulty hearing my backing track as there was no front floor monitor . I notice that a lot of performers nowadays seem to use in ear monitors so I was wandering if any of our vast array of talented musicians use or have used them and I would welcome any feedback as I'm seriously considering purchasing one such is my ever increasing deafness Ah old age doesn't come on its own[ lol ] What do you think Regards Bigmike

Hi Mike Don't think about it any longer - get some, you will not regret it. It's amazing just how much noise you inflict on yourself even on even the smallest stage. IEMs let you hear yourself - and whatever else you put in the mix - perfectly and you don't have to sing louder to hear yourself either, which is a common occurence on loud stages. Depending on the earpieces you choose you can have whatever level of isolation you want or need. The fully fitted custom earpieces can give almost complete isolation and are probably not necessary. They are also very expensive. A medium priced set of earpieces will remove unrequired outside sound but still let you hear enough of the background. Hope this helps. Best regards Ken

Thanks for the advice Kenja,I have seen some reasonably priced ones on the Thoman site so I will count the spare pennies in my pocket and see what happens. Regards Bigmike
