Hi Shyam, Well, some years ago I bought the predecessor to the Mackie ProFX12. It has very solid steel end cheeks which you can see here: www.thomann.de/gb/mackie_profx12.htm. It's an all steel chassis and I'm still happy with it. However I use mine within a "DJ station" 19" rack mount box. I don't use the FX and the master EQ though. All my stuff is pre EQ'd. The vocalist, my wife, doesn't use a mic. It's a totally different environment from yours. I see this one has USB too, might be useful. Alternatively you could try the Sound Craft MFX series. They have the solid end cheeks too by the looks of them. www.thomann.de/gb/soundcraft_mfx_12.htm. Don't know if that helps. AS ever, my 2d. JohnG.

Shyam
I have been using the Profx12 for about 18 months now and would thoroughly recommend checking them out>. The effects section has a good selection of usable effects, and everything works as it should giving very nice sound quality. I put the mix through a pair of JBL tops and a pair of JBL bass bins. The only gripe I have with it, (and thats probably down to my OCD) is that the speaker outlet sockets on the back are marked up with the left channel on the right, and the right channel on the left, as you look at it from the back. If you want any other info that the web or various links dont give you, please mail me Shyam.

Thanks for the inputs, JohnG and Ian. Will have a close look at these two and decide. I very particularly want the effects coming in on my monitors. Using a echo reverb sort of effects on the voices, its nice to have them on the monitors - helps ciut the strain on the singing !! Hope these two mixers have this feature. When the monitors are connected to the AUX inputs, the effects can be routed to the channels using these effects. Any ideas ?

Hi Shyam
The PROFX12 has a control knob to control the amount of effects coming back through the monitor channel so it can be controlled from 0 to 100% of the outgoing effect level thats coming out the front.
Hope this helps.

and the profx is not nearly as expensive as the soundcraft mixer. If you need more mic inputs and rugged have a look at the Mackie CFX12 MkII. More expensive but a lot more features, like parametric mid EQ. JohnG.
