Well the olympics have been and gone team GB came third in the medal list behind China and the US.The team got a good amount of gold medals [444grms of gold each nice wee investment lol] and of course silver and bronze as well.

Congrats:to all the athletes that competed well done to all the medal winners and hard luck to those that quite didn`t get a medal. The games where mostly trouble free but there were a few wee gliches lol like the chinese and koreans that couldn`t get the shuttle over the net in badminton result both teams sent home and are now working in the paddy fields and are up to their knees in rice. Then we had the poor fencer that scored just as the clock ran out which gave her a draw and a chance at sudden death,only to have her hit ruled out and the clock reset by 1 second which proved enough time for her opponent to get a score and win the fight result the girl sat on the platform in a show of protest for quite some time before she was ordered out of the stadium and finally for all you pugilists[boxers] :'(we had the fight where a boxer was knocked to the floor 6 yes 6 times and he went on to win the fight ;D the referee should have stopped the fight after the 6th knock down and awarded the fight to the other boxer result the result stood but the referee was sent home and taken off the officials list for good so no more fights for him

I can confirm that Tubbs,Frankie and myself have been signed up for Rio and we will be in cycling team pursuit race and the triple sculls on the lake for the sake of balance we will put Frankie in the middle.

And that was the 2012 Olympics

Sorry to disillusion you George.
The Gold medals are made of silver and gold plated.
So not actually worth a lot for their gold content - they must contain at least 6 gms of gold. A little bit for the silver, sure.

On the positive side, these are the heaviest Olympic medals ever minted weighing between 375-400 grams ... according to wiki.

And wasn't it a great event!
It went well despite all the predictions of gloom and disaster.
Many thanks, I believe, should go to the good nature of the forces doing the security checks.
I've just heard that G4S will donate a couple of million to the Army. And so they should.
But that does, at least, show some conscience, unlike our 'illustrious' bankers.

Over here the papers were full of the spirit of the games in England, and commentators commenting upon the friendliness and politeness of the British people. Certainly true compared to the average German impolite, grump.

Can't wait to come home again!

You are absloutely right the games where fantastic the sportmanship was superb the crowds where excellent as for G4s i thought it was a mistake to give them the contract after all since they took over the task of transporting prisoners from court there have never been so many escapees lol
