Hi Everyone
I spent only three weeks in the U.K. travellng diagonally across the U.K. from the South Eastern tip (Dover) to the North Western tip (Uist in Outer Hebredis) . A Wonderful holiday .
We loved the country, the people, the history, the culture and traditions. the discipline and the democracy !!
May I voice my very humble opinions on certain subjectS ? I am NOT an expert on history, , politics, economics or social subjects , but I couldnt help notice that:
You need to have a very serious rethink about the practice of dishing out doles to the "needy"
In my very short stay there I came across quite many people misusing the facilities granted to them. For example I noticed a middle aged man who lost one of his limbs , falling off hi mobike climbing up steps (a stupid act , to say the least ) He was awarded a hefty compensation and he is allowed to smoke hash and even grow them in his backyard. He has six or seven cars parked in a pay parking area and his "wife" has kids every year. A very comfortable "kushy" life draining the exchequer !!
The man should have been given a job sitting behind a desk , earning a decent living. Training for some employment would have helped him EARN a living , to be self sufficient, but NO ........ the very generous U.K. Govt., keeps smothering him and his wife with healthy doles, and the yearly off springs fetch him bonuses which can afford him luxuries which many of you cant afford.
It is said that the Government cannot take away what it has given .
It is important here to tell you that the 'gentleman' in question is happily 'running around' on his wooden leg. Medical aid to look after all his and his family's ailments are made available at the cost of the honest citizen.
This is only one example but I did notice quite many others who would fit into this bracket of the undeserving.
True, AID must go to the needy but the destination of this gracious aid should be the NEEDY. A line HAS TO to be drawn , somewhere. The deserving senior citizens and the truly hapless need this grace. but surely, conscience needs to rise above selfishness and the Government shouldnt be taken for a ride. Organisaions promoting such un thoughtful schemes, should be banned.

You are a PROUD nation and you have all the reasons to be PROUD of yourselves, but you neednt be stupidly be proud of caring for such people. You need to make people as self sufficient as they can be. You need to make these people proud to earn a living and to contribute to a nation that once was an Empire, tuling the world.
I am just an ordinary middle class musician, living continents away, in a nation once ruled by you and , honestly I did feel upset.
