Well guys..we eventually made it home from Manchester....and I've read all of the comments in this post but I don't agree with the post Title...UNLUCKY UNITED........I'm a UTd fan as you all probably know by now...but after a lasklustered display on wednesday night I won't say that UTD were UNLUCKY....after the first 5 minutes they werent in the game!!!!!....UNLUCKY sounds like they had a chance and were just unfortunate not to take it...the whole team underperformed and to me the best player on the pitch was UTD's explayer Gerard Pique...if he hadn't have saved Park's attempt in the first 5 minutes it maybe could have been a different game....he put in a brilliant 'shift'.
But now to why I said that we eventually got home......we flew out from Belfast City airport ( George Best airport ) after all the security checks..just in case we were going to blow the plane up or something!!! into Liverpool where we 'trained' it to Manchester...NO PROBLEMS SO FAR......so early Friday morning... 10.37am...( the day we were due to go home ) we again 'trained' it back to Liverpool airport to catch the 14.45 flight back to Belfast....we arrived at the airport and were checked in just after 12 noon...through security.....shoes off, belt off, watch off, phone through scanner....the usual rubbish to catch terrorists you know!!!!....so then came the call to board the flight and standing right at the front of the queue was our right honourable selves ( wanting to get the extra leg room seats )...so here we go...AS WE THOUGHT!!!...but as we were going through the boarding desk we were stopped as it was discovered that our passports had expired ( you need passports if you book online with RyanAir )...and we were told to stand against a wall like two terrorists while everybody walked past us to the plane...we were..for want of a better phrased..FROG MARCHED through the airport by security guards and RyanAir staff to the main airport again and then told that we would not be getting home on any of RyanAir's flights nor would any airline in the airport fly us home either.......we argued that we had come over with Ryanair but they as much as called us liars and even told us that there was no record of us flying with them at all.
We had to go to the ferry terminal and take the overnight ferry from Liverpool to Belfast...but when we got to the checking in desk at the ferry terminal we were again asked for ID...and when we explained what had happened at the airport the staff at the ferry company couldn't have been any nicer to us....it was just a case of using a bit of savey.
What had happened was..I had made the online booking using our NEW passports but my wife mistakenly lifted the passports that were JUST out of date...
So much for the security at Belfast Airport and the same applies to the RyanAir staff at Belfast...we COULD HAVE BLOWN THE PLANE UP......and so much for the security at Liverpool Airport as well.............take your shoes off..take your belt off...take your watch off...put your mobile in the tray.....BUT WE DONT' WORRY ABOUT YOUR ID!!!!!!!
