Hi Everyone I'm getting so disgusted with Yamaha, I wish I could sue them. My S900, about a year and a half old, worked well till today. All of a udden a 1/4 inch thick vertical coloured band appeared on the left side of the display, and it just will not go away. I have tried to initialize it, etc etc, but its still ver disturbingly and visibly there. On consulting the Yamaha service technician I learnt that this is a common complaint and in many cases, more than 50% of the display has been blocked out . The cost of a display board (if ordered from overseas, will cost around Rs.22,000/- (approximately $4500/- Earlier I had a problem with my PSR 3000' display board, (I'd written about this in our Forum) Why have the quality standards of Yamaha keyboards fallen so disgracefully ? Are they made to last for just a year or atleast till the warranty is valid ? It is indeed, very upsetting for musicians like me to buy a Yamaha keyboard like the S900 and PSR 3000 and get a raw deal. We cannot afford the Tyros and definitely will not risk buying one now . I checked the Net and found many S900 owners with various serious complaints about these keyboards. I connected an external vide screen via the Video Out and fortunately, do not see this vertical line. Till I can sell the keyboard, I hope I can manage with this external screen Have any of you S900 owners experienced this problem My sincere advice to all owners of the S series is to dump them as soon as possible.

Hi Shyam
for build quality and durability i much preferred my old PSR2100 with its old but reliable floppy disc drive. It had a really strong music stand which never fell off and although itwas much heavier it never let me down in the three years I had it.My new psrs900 so far has been good to me but i do not do the gigs like I used to so it doesn't get thrown about so much.It did come with a three year warranty. I just hope I do not experience the problems you have. Do check your warranty though. Regards
Mark

Yes Mark, my partner has a PSR2100 and its definitely sturdier than the PSR 300 and the S900. I got a year's warranty , but I'm worried about Yamaha products now and I'm thinking of getting a good KORG PA80 or a Roland, because I'm quite worried to think of the consequences if my keyboard packs up at a gig. I hear from my Yamaha technician that there were three other instances of the S 900 having display problems, so do take care. Its a very nice user friendly keyboard with a lot of goodies and I loved it .......... till now. I have a few gigs coming up and am getting an external video screen which I will connect from my video out, and I hope everything will go off well

The first pic is of the display on my S900 with the vertical band. The second is of the external minitor I bought which I connected from my Video Out of the s900. The display is clear Sorry for the poor pics - it was taken with my mobile.
