Can you tell me if it displays lyrics on the machine and if it is possible to edit midi files on it please. I have looked at the spec and it doesnt mention either.
Thanks

Hi John, I sold it and bought a Ketron Midjay because the midjay has a footswitch and also has a drum machine built in.Plus you can change instruments, tempo and key easily. To answer Oliver101 as far as I can remember it did display lyrics not sure about midi editing as I used to do that on the pc.

Re, the M-Blaster 2.i have been using one on my senior gigs for a couple of years,i initially was using it to play my midifiles but because i was using cakewalk to do any editing i did not have to use the editing function that it came with although in saying that it is possible to change key, tempo, instruments effects etc if you needed to while the midifile is on the m/blaster,but to have to do it on the run so to speak it would not be quick enough for the live situation but to save taking the midi back to the computer to make adjustments it is fine.I stopped using midis on it once i got my sonic cell because what i am doing now is to edit my midis on sonar le in conjunction with s/cell to get all the far superior sounds then i make mp3s of the edited midis, from there i install them on the M-Blaster via usb which of course can play mp3 as well as midifiles so the result is i am able to get better quality backing than i did with the midifiles.the downside is that instead of being able to have around i think 4000 midifiles at your disposal which the M-Blaster is capable of storing that is with a larger flash card than what it comes with(512mb) i can only have at this stage a lot less mp3s,i have a 2gig card which seems to be the max it will except but i have got over 100 mp3s on it & still adding more on plus you still have the option of carrying a spare card with you which would give you enough choice.I suppose the next question is ,why don't i put the mp3s on to the memory stick & use S/Cell at my gigs, to answer that is that i find the M-Blaster is more user friendly in as much that it has a viewing screen much larger than S/Cell it also is easier to go from say song 10 to song 60 at the turn of a dial changing six songs at a time,it is also possible to put playlists on if required but i think this might use up valuable space,it has a bass & treble setting which you can apply & save individually to each mp3 song as well as a volume setting, another function which i have never used is that it will transpose the key of an mp3 usually a couple of semitones either way at the press of a button, any more than that can result in poorer quality,as for the lyrics question i am pretty sure that you are not able to display them on the screen but it does come with a video cable which can conect to a laptop,my opinion for what its worth being still relatively new at this sort of thing is that the sounds on the M-Blaster when used as a stand alone midifile player are ok quality but after experiencing the sounds of the S/Cell there is no comparison, but for me using it as i am it works great, very easy to switch songs,a nice size backlit viewing window, very simple to use controls but best of all it has never let me down at all in the time i have had it,plus its nice & compact, hope this clarifies a few things, one more thing the shop where i got it from tried to sell me the M-Blaster model until i went on the net & found out it had been superceded by a more advanced model the M-Blaster2 which had a few more features such as midi in/out instead of just midi in,both models have usb function which you use to transfer the songs from the computer either in midi or mp3 to try & put normal wav songs on uses to much memory thus restricting the amount of songs that can be stored on the card, any more info just ask, but as we leave the country in the next few days for our big holiday try & get in quick, best wishes to all Simmo

Hi Solo, no worries i hope it gave you a bit of an insight into the MBlaster2,thats one of the reasons i have found since joining up & that is its always great to be able to get different opinions on all sorts of gear & the like before you part with any of your hard earned cash,i know we all have different views on everything but generally it helps you decide which way to go.As for our hols, ....Yes the bags are all packed, heading off to Perth International Airport midday tommorow (5.00am UK time) for our big once in a lifetime holiday, got the kids looking after the old place, hope they dont run up to many bills but they are pretty good kids, although generally speaking not into the gardening maintenance thing, even though no.2 son is a landscaper by trade. Will be keeping in touch by email to the forum,Kind regards ,the Simmo's
