Hi again folks, just another mini catchup from our part of the world just to add a little bit of interest to the forum, our much needed rain hit us last night with a vengence,it lasted most of the night with good falls of rain in our particular area (about 75mm) which lies between Perth & Mandurah,i must admit that the display of lightning was nothing short of spectacular, the good thing is we have a repeat tonight as well.Just to add to the mix out temp today reached the magic 37.4C which is 100F in the old scale,so you can imagine it has been a humid of couple of days, for next week we are looking at similar temps plus a few degrees hotter but the heat will be a dry heat which is a lot more comfortable to manage. We have a routine whereby we open the windows & doors up first thing in the morning to get the maximum cool air through the house but as soon as the sun gets a bit of bite in it usually before 9.00am we then go into lock-down by closing them all.We are fortunate in some ways because our house being an open plan design is a very cool house throughout the year but the downside is it does get very cold ( in our terms) during the winter months.Gigged today in one of my regular venues, they have trouble getting entertainers into the dementia section which is a shame but i don't mind one bit in fact i could nearly write a book on the amusing stories & situations i get myself into while performing there,we all including the staff have a ball,i do get plenty offers of assistance from the residents keen to help me carry my gear out, downside is no aircon plus i have to drive home via the Freeway at peak times. No busking tomorrow (sat) but my usual spot on sunday at the market,i have an Australia day gig on Jan 26th which is a public holiday over here so i am having to do a quick refresher course on some of the stuff as i don't often play it at the normal gigs,in fact strange as it may seem i have trouble getting Aussie songs in midi, any offers most welcome.

Storms strike Western Australia
Alex Zadnik, Friday January 20, 2012 - 15:16 EDT
Thunderstorms have struck major population centres in Western Australia in the past 24 hours, with Mandurah being particularly hard hit this morning.
Mandurah was drenched by an incredible 57mm of rain between 2am and 9am, which is more than four times the monthly average. Additionally, it was the highest daily total for January in six years. Bickley also received heavy downpours during the morning hours, with 37mm tumbling down between 6am and 9am.
Rainfall rates were intense enough for flash flooding to take place, while there have been reports of power outages in Mandurah and parts of Perth. This is not surprising given the number of lightning strikes and the strength of some wind gusts associated with the thunderstorm activity.
Mandurah recorded a wind gust of 78km/h early in the morning, while over 2000 lightning strikes were recorded within a 30km radius of the centre of town between midnight and midday today. Over 1000 lightning strikes were recorded within a 40km radius of Perth during the same period, with the majority of strikes occurring over southern and eastern suburbs,Baldivs/Mandurah
Well thats about it for the moment..Simmo...sitting at the computer with just a pair of shorts on ....not a pretty sight.
