Hi, Just a quick one, are there any plans to re-instate this category on the forum. The reason I ask, is that I have a few items for sale and would like to offer them to forum members before I venture over to Ebay.
Many thanks

Hey shyam... ...Im sure Ebay have a worldwide service depends of course if the seller will ship to certain countries though....why not try Ebay India close to home you might be lucky and find what your looking for there.....otherwise it should say whether they ship to your countyry or not on the item description page.........regards Barry

I'm not sure this is the rigt place to ask this but if something is posted on e-bay , do you know if its possible to ship it to India ? Would e-bay do it ? eBay itself doesn't do the shipping Shyam (at least not here in Europe), it is the seller who has to arrange it, and postal insurance if necessary. Good idea if selling abroad. Buyer pays. Do some research beforehand, if you can, to give them a quote. Measure the dimensions packed and weigh the item. Many postal services give details of costs on their web sites. Many services will allow you to track the parcel too. Keep the shipping number and email it to the buyer too. When shipping overseas something like PayPal works as an escrow account. It holds the money from the buyer until the goods arrive and receipt is acknowledged, then credits the sellers PayPal account. You should always use escrow when buying or selling abroad. And if on eBay check that they have a solid record. There have been many sellers who have lost their money and not got the goods back when shipping overseas. Always get proof of delivery. Buyers claim not to have received goods when they have. People who complain about not being able to afford the extra cost are often scammers. Especially true with high value items. Buyers may have to pay VAT if they are receiving goods into the EU. If you are a buyer and the goods don't arrive when they are supposed to, put the item "into dispute" straight away. You can always take it off again. Make sure you communicate well if you are buying or selling overseas. A few emails can quickly tell you whether or not to trust someone. Always ask, if buying, whether the goods are original and in full working order, whether they are suitable for the voltages in your country and so on. New or used etc. There are probably a shed load of other things too but those are some of the issues. Watch out for crooks! Regards, JohnG.

I'm not sure this is the rigt place to ask this but if something is posted on e-bay , do you know if its possible to ship it to India ? Would e-bay do it ? I do quite a lot of transactions on Ebay as a buyer and seller. The seller will show in his item description where he ships to, a lot ship worldwide, some just to their own country or select countries. The shipping is the responsibility of the seller. All ebay sales now advertise Paypal as a payment intermediary, the goods will be shipped once the seller has received payment, Paypal doesn't hold the money, the payment is requested immediately to the seller after you commit to buy. A PayPal account can be funded with an electronic debit from a bank account or by a credit card. Always check the feedback of the seller before bidding or buying.

If the seller indicates that they post worldwide then you bet they'll send to India too Always check the sellers reputation as there are some dodgy, unscrupulous ones on there..... but if you buy from any who've been selling for a while and has a reputation of at least 99% you should be OK. I buy a lot from EBay and never had trouble when using this principle. In response to the original poster's question. Thank you for suggesting this and I will have the section up and running shortly UPDATE:This new section is now open and ready for use. Happy selling midihangout.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sale

A PayPal account can be funded with an electronic debit from a bank account or by a credit card. Always check the feedback of the seller before bidding or buying. Interesting! I did a transaction with a guy in the UK recently (eBay & PayPal) and he had my payment held by PayPal in escrow until I confirmed that I had received the goods. PayPal, in this case, most definitely did hold onto my money. Mucho correspondence. Much bleating from the seller that he hadn't got his money. Then he checked PayPal and all was explained. He had to wait about four days until his account was credited. So maybe the procedure differs between countries. Then again it was his first shipment outside the UK. Perhaps they are carrying out more stringent checks on first time overseas posters. It may also depend on the value of the item of course. Low value goes straight through, higher value is checked/controlled. Dunno. Also beware of "shill" bidding. The seller has 2 accounts (or a friend with an account) and bids up for his own goods to get a better price. You invariably lose the auction then get offered the goods at the last price you placed. I was caught once by this, but when it happened a second time I reported to eBay that I suspected "shill bidding", they investigated and both accounts were removed. I guess all things to be aware of when buying or selling via eBay. JohnG.

And with that contribution from John this topic is now closed. Just to remind everyone this section is primarily intended for suggestions to improve the forum, so when a topic goes in a totally other direction it serves little purpose keeping it open Keep the suggestions coming!
