Well Chelsea didn`t make the finals, but it wasn`t for want off trying, the match officials were watching some other game. Now before anyone jumps in to say `sour grapes weegeo` the final score should have been 6----1 to Chelsea but instead they were robbed by a blind bald headed Norwegian. Good luck to United now i hope they go on and slaughter Barcelona now, for me the final has lost it`s appeal as a fair competition and UEFA should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. A blind man on a galloping horse going backwards would have seen all 4 of those penalty decisions or at the very worst the 2 that happened right under his nose, but there you go and they call this a sporting game.

I think for important games like this there should be an official in the stands watching the match from another angle on CCTV who can guide and advise the refs and linesman ( in my book they will NEVER be referees assistants ) . They use another official in Rugby League and it seems to work well, you can also refer to a third umpire in test match cricket for guidance. There is so much at stake now it has got to be worth a trial.
Also while I am on my soapbox I would like to see anyone faking an injury or trying to con the ref by diving sent off. I hate cheats, if you cant win by fair means you are just not good enough so accept it and just do the best you can.
Rant over so I am going to bed now.

Your right i agree with you, i thought the sending off of the Barcelona player was a d**** disgrace Anelka fell over his own feet and because of this travisty he must now miss the final what a shame

The Referee made some bad decisions no doubt.....but the way the Chelsea players reacted to him at the end was a total disgrace.
The whole refereeing system needs to be addressed once and for all in Football, video evidence etc. It would stop a lot of this nonsense of abusing the officials after the final whistle.....they were like spoilt brats.

Some bad decisions? dunno how other teams woulda reacted cant really say but I for one can sympathise and understand the complete frustration of the Chelsea players after being cheated out of a CL Final place .....not just whinging we took it on the chin last year after being beaten fair and square ........ok the reaction was a bit over the top by some players without doubt ...but this wasn't just some league match prob the most important club match in the world and I'm sure a lot of those players won't ever get that chance to reach a final again in their careers as players anyway..........Barry  |
