I'm going to look into this Sonic Cell thing in a bit more detail, I like the fact that you can play MP3 as well as Midi, as 80% of my tracks are in MP3, any good links you can suggest for information about it, and roughly what would you say price wise they are? Hi Jacqui, Can I suggest you take a good look at the manual first, I copied a link to my copy on 4shared in a recent post, but here it is again in zipped format www.4shared.com/file/103488026/47764841/SonicCell_e2.html. With all its facilities it will take you a little while to get to grips with it I suggest. I still have a tutorial to complete for Terry (Simmo) explaining the setup in SONAR LE (which I believe the SonicCell comes with). But just playing the mp3s is pretty straightforward. To take real advantage of it of course you have to use the internal voices. You connect it via USB, play your MIDI files to it. and it is able to send the audio back to the PC down the same USB cable that it is using to play the MIDI files. You record this as a normal wave file. Then convert it to mp3 on the PC. You can then save this to a memory stick which you can plug into the back of the SonicCell for your gigs. Er, does that make any sense? JohnG.

Yep, MusicStore Cologne isn't far from me and usually have good competitive prices, the other German one that is sometimes even more competitive is Thomann. I have used both stores for all sorts of bits of hardware (mixer, speakers, mics, cables) from time to time, mail order, and have found them both to be very good. They both have English speaking staff. Here's Thomann's page for the SonicCell: www.thomann.de/gb/roland_soniccell.htm?sid=00835a6473c49e3e4c80a3f7166377a6 I think it's a few quid cheaper than t'other. HTH. JohnG.

hi john, yes, i must agree with you there, Thomann is indeed a great (if not the best) place to shop..being from (rip off) republic of ireland, i have saved quite a bit as have most musician friends of mine, would you believe the same product is €799 here, that's a huge difference, however, this once, i found musicstore to be €70 cheaper...but...but.. a strange thing..i bought SonicCell yesterday for €569 but, when i went in there a few minutes ago the price had gone up to €639, i tried refreshing the page, but stayed the same...maybe i was lucky with the deal yesterday.

Likewise I too use Thomann and have nothing but the highest praise for them. My experience has been nothing but positive.

If you like the Ketron sounds you can also consider the Ketron Midjay. It and the Roland Sonic Cell do pretty much the same thing. There are differences, yes. The Midjay can be hooked to a monitor to display lyrics. I don't think the Sonic Cell can be.
A big advantage that Roland has over Ketron is SUPPORT!

Well, I took a look soon after you posted and sure enough the price was much higher than you paid. I imagine you got the last one at the old price. Now it is new stock at a new price. You got yourself a bargain there! Hope you enjoy it when it arrives. JohnG.
