I bought a cheap Lindo shark guitar a few years ago..and although it was cheap it sounds amazing...I changed the strings to custom lights and it just sounds so sweet....but the frets need changing as it's starting to 'buzz'...I've filed them down and that cured it for a while but it's starting to come back again.....has any of the members ever re-fretted a guitar before?...I've read up on it and it doesn't sound all that hard to do...I'm one of these people who believe that if you don't try to do it you'll learn nothing....I've made many mistakes by that theory..but I learnt from it Kev

Hi Kev , I tried it with an old strat copy that i had and what i found out is unless you have the proper tools it's very hard to do the job properly.Be very careful when taking the frets out as you can easily damage the fingerboard. When putting the new frets in you need the proper cutting tool to make the right angle, otherwise the edge won't sit right . I ended up taking the neck to a guitar repairer.
Best of luck Eddie

Good advise Eddie...if I take it to a guitar repairer it will probably be dearer than what I paid for the guitar....but I'll probably do that Kev

I've just changed six frets on mine myself and I've done it before, but you do have to be very careful and take your time. One time when I was in the navy out the Far East and there was no chance of getting a refret job done,I took the frets out and turned them round the other way and they did the job until I could get them done properly. As a temporary job you could try raising the bridge a bit to get rid of the buzz. I don't think a Refret is the solution here, sounds more like perhaps the nut needs replacing or maybe a truss rod adjustment......

Thanks guys for all your help...it's definately the frets that are at fault...some are almost flat....I'm just in from playing and one of my speakers gave up 1/2 way though the night so I'll have to go today and see if I can get it sorted for tonight...if not then it's the heavy 15'' ones again...and I'll bring the guitar with me and leave it with them
