I suggest you look just at channel 10 not at the other channels, Frankie, which do have volume changes.
There are no changes in volume on channel 10, the drum track.
Shyam, I've just noticed that the file is heavily laced with XG SysEx messages in track 1 (as probably are the other files you have problems with). Removing those may effect a solution for you.
I suspect those XG SysEx messages are fouling up the sound module.
Would you like me to do that for you?
Regards, JohnG

Hi Shyam,
Done. I've posted it to your personal address as it's allegedly one Glenn produced. I won't post it here in case it's copyright, but not Minvec. It looks like it's been produced either from within a Yamaha personal keyboard or using XGworks and style files.
Can you let me know whether or not it works please?
It's a piece of cake, but not Cakewalk, to edit. The authors of Cakewalk, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that you don't need to see the embedded SysEx commands. They have loads of fancy features, but you need a "proper" sequencer to see what's really in a MIDI file.
Didn't I post a link to Sekaiju a while back?
Regards, JohnG.

Have you checked under SETTINGS/Instruments.... that your drums are defined... Not sure if this is exactly how it is presented in Cakewalk 9 as I use the venerable old Verion 3, but there is a setting there that links your drums to GENERAL MIDI OR GENERAL MIDI DRUMS or GENERIC (PATCHES 0-127) or GENERIC (PATCHES 1-128) Won't play drums unless it's set correctly. Use HELP....it should have something to say about it.

BTW... Windows 7 only runs my old Cakewalk Ver 3 (19930 if it is the 32 bit version of the OS... My wife has the 64 bit version and it won't even load... The 32 bit version will run it reasonably happily if you run it in a 98 compatibility mode. I would think that Cakewalk 9 would be in the same boat. Go to START and right click on COMPUTER... choose PROPERTIES and it will tell you under SYSTEM TYPE whether you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit version of the OS.. If you have the original installation disk of WINDOWS 7 you can choose which version to load.
