Hello again everyone
Im sure that everyone one on here who live and gig on the pub scene in Ireland have noticed how much more difficult it is getting to keep getting gigs and any you can get, the money is crap.
End of an era coming hard and fast. The pub scene in my area certainly seems to be collapsing everywhere.
Over the years all my work has been pub / hotel lounge stuff more akin to cabaret.
I have been thinking about trying to diversify and try the small wedding / dancing scene, but have little experience of it.
Im just wondering if any of you guys on here do it and would consider sharing some advice regarding set lists that work for Irish dancing audiences.
Im particularly interested in what songs work the best for each type of dance........waltzs foxtrots etc and perhaps a ball park on the tempos.
Also what about the mix in the sound of the track....should the drums be up loud in the mix etc
Any and all advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated
Regards
Vincent

Vincent,
Have noticed same, a lot of pubs are now getting back to the DJ element for the older generation 40+ and it seems to be working for them.
I also notice that R&R and rockabilly is making a sort of comeback as a result as these folk want to dance too.
No expierience on the waltz foxtrot dance end of things so soz I cant help you there.
