Went to see the Solid Silver 60's show last night. Gerry and the Pacemakers, Searchers,Fortunes and Chip Hawkes (Tremoloes) Although there's very few original members left, the show was very good .The Fortunes have a new vocalist because of Rod Allen's sad passing , but sounded very good as did the rest. Can't help thinking The Searchers came across as though they'd rather have been somewhere else. Looked uninterested and sounded bland.Pity, they were one of my favourite groups in the 60's. Has anyone else seen the show? Eddie

Its £30 a ticket now Tommy, still a good night . I was talking to a couple last night who were at the show.First thing they said was The Searchers were only going through the motions. So it's not only me .Thought for a minute i was becoming a grumpy old man.

So sad to hear that , Eddie. The Searchers were such a lovely band. I guess that kinda thing happens to all of us, but still ............. I hope they bounce back fo another show - they deserve to! How did Gerry and the Pacemakers sound ?

Hi Shyam. The Pacemakers sounded good and Gerry's voice is still good and strong. And yes i was pretty disappointed with the Searchers. The other thing i don't understand is they do some cover versions .With their back catalogue i would have thought they had more than enough of their own material to cover a spot of 30-40 minutes . going for a lie down now another rant over.

I saw The Searchers a few years ago here in Australia, they put on a great show but the room was only half full which was a bit sad.
Then a few months later Mike Pender was touring with his version of The Searchers!!

Yes John, i saw Mike Pender a couple of years back. He is the voice behind most of their hits and sounds a lot more genuine than the current lot.
